Logs on twitter sees people saying Moyes should be sacked and it’s time to move on. Logs back off twitter.
Not sure how these people manage day to day life…

I wish it was that! We just couldn't move the ball until Lanzini came on.Cuenca 'ammer wrote: ↑Sat Jul 30, 2022 7:38 pm said before, a back 5 for us means playing with 7 defenders. we never seem to get a right balance and juding from what I've read here, it hasn't changed much.
Lens pressed us in the middle of the park and we had no answer for it.
Much better once Coventry came on for Soucek and with Fornals on the left.
Solved our defensive woes, but raised numerous other questions including how we fit in a number of regulars in if we persist with this approach.

Funnily enough if you read tweets from Lens fans they are all moaning about their team as well!

Shame Vlasic only got 25 minutes. Benny didn’t exactly pull up trees but had got the lions share of the minutes.

I think our issue is down to the fact we’re actively trying to get 2/3 more first team players, including Scamacca and Aguerd, our lineup would be 5 players different.

It does seem like Moyes put a lot of thinking into our team formation/game play - with Lingard in it.
He now needs to come up with another plan and sharpish. We looked stale and lacking in pace, bar Bowen. Masuaku starting in any position is just not good enough imo, we should be able to find a better player than that, even in league one. I can’t see how that motives the likes of Rice and Bowen to want to stay with us.
Apart from all that it was good.

Don't think he did. It was hard to tell from the mini pixel blotches.Cuenca 'ammer wrote: ↑Sat Jul 30, 2022 8:08 pm did Downes get on at all ? if he did, how did he do, and if he didn't why not ?
It was a strange friendly. Neither side played well. Neither side played hard. It was as if both sides played the game because they were obligated to play. It was a waste of time, imo. The only thing this game will have invited was frustration within the camp and across the fanbase. Waste of time.

wasn't going to plough through all those minutes of boring football just to see if he got on.
wonder why he didn't..........
still as most say "pre season is just about ftness"
judging from the last game I saw, we weren't even fit........

Got 5 mins at the end on for Soucek. Didn't notice him touch the ball.Cuenca 'ammer wrote: ↑Sat Jul 30, 2022 8:08 pm did Downes get on at all ? if he did, how did he do, and if he didn't why not ?
Curious to see Coventry getting more minutes, although he played well.
Best hope for today is probably that our fitness work has been ultra high intensity and that's why the players look so dire at the minute, but think I'm clutching at straws there.

Moyes probably wanted one last look at him before deciding whether to keep or send out on loan again.StevePottsGoalsReel wrote: ↑Sat Jul 30, 2022 8:18 pm Curious to see Coventry getting more minutes, although he played well.

Re: ⚽ Racing Club de Lens v West Ham Utd: match thread
I think Coventry playing well is relative compared to the rest. He completed a nice north south cross at the end which Lanzini (I think) put off the cross bar and that made him stand out. Apart from that he did what the others had been doing, which is running relatively slowly, not arriving in space to receive the ball in time and passing the ball sideways and backwards. At any rate, he played like the others, imo. To me, really the person that needs questioning in this match is Moyes. This didn't feel like effective use of the game. It's preparation, so prepare.

Re: ⚽ Racing Club de Lens v West Ham Utd: match thread
This is the first game of pre-season that I actually know the full time result of. I obviously hope we don’t play a back 5 again to start the season but I pay no attention to the results or the performances whatsoever, it’s bliss
Re: ⚽ Racing Club de Lens v West Ham Utd: match thread
I know its Pre Season but we dont look at the races. We still need another 4 players and though we may get them by the deadline we currently look off the pace and I dont think Moyes knows his best team.We can only hope the new additions will improve us and the current players step up a few gears.

Re: ⚽ Racing Club de Lens v West Ham Utd: match thread
It looked like the same problem he has been dealing with for a while; He can make us tick at one end or the other with the options we have.
In many ways you could say this was positive as we never looked like conceding and replace the two players on the left with better options, stick a striker in for Fornals, Aguerd for Dawson and we start to look very different. Some of those pieces are at the club, but we need a couple more.
The worry for me was how much better we looked with a ball player compared to Soucek. I’m struggling to see how he fits in this side. Ditto Fornals (who at least has the versatility to be useful).
The more I reflect, the more my stress levels drop but it needs a couple more.
