-------------Areola
Johnson - Zouma - Cresswell
Coufal -----Downes-----Fornals
--------Soucek--------Rice
Bowen-----------------Scamacca
Swamps midfield, but allows us to keep control of our shape when defending.
That team would just invite pressure on us all day. Just a matter of time before they scored. I think Dawson will play tbh. Not saying it is right, but ive the impression that the pre season games have been a bit of a "hassle" for Moyes. Like he wasnt really into the them and wanted them out the way.
It'll be interesting to see if we play 4 or 5 at the back. With two defensively strong centre mids in Rice and Soucek, plus Fornals and Bowen offering support, I think we can play with 4.
Scamacca has played no pre season for us though, I'd be surprised if he starts, I think it'll be Antonio up top.

I think Antonio will start over Scamacca but this is the team I'd probably go with. Although it appears Moyes also still fancies Fab as No.1, I thought they would swap roles this year.
Think it's a case of hoping they haven't quite clicked yet and grateful for a draw.
Unless our team wake up from the coma they have been in during pre-season then it could get embarrassing

We're going to be under pressure all day, anyway; that was a line up suggested as the best solution to the problem.
It's weakness is the continued reliance on Fornals at LWB.
It's strengths are that Downes can receive and play forward the ball after/when Rice has the chance to step across the halfway line and find a threatening position to try to initiate a surge or break forward.
Gonna stick this on page 1, so that everyone can point and laugh when it (hopefully) gets proven wrong, but I reckon we're gonna get beat by 3, 4 or 5 in a way that generally hasn't happened under Moyes since his first spell in charge.

If we play like we played yesterday, and City play like they played yesterday I think you might be right.
Moyes will go with probably the 1st half team from yesterday with a few adjustments we won't see Scamacca for a few weeks as Moyes is loyal to the players he has Areola will most likely start on the bench again. If he goes with this 3 at the back it will be a very long day against City there's no outlet, no pace to catch them on the break and no creativity i think we will ok this season but I do however think we will be playing catch up

I said this a few weeks back. It feels like there is a dark cloud over us this preseason and maybe it's just me being an armchair psychologist, but our players look like they are moody already.
Since I predicted the same as you, Aguerd has been crocked but Scamacca has been signed. I don't know. Really hope I'm wrong. And really, really, really hope Moyes recovers from his blow to the head and we play our normal formation.
Worryingly for me, like last season, the team picks itself due to small squad numbers. Had really hoped we’d have a number of quality new signings ready for the start of the season
