Standin' on the Corner

Post by Cuenca 'ammer »

https://www.standinonthecorner.org/

a park in Winslow, a statue of Glenn Frey on the corner and a park with a mural of a girl my Lord, in a flat bed Ford, slowin' down to take a look at me..

stumbled across this today, didn't realise it has been 6 years since Glenn Frey passed.

such a list of brilliant, brilliant songs, I know not the kind of thing for everyone. but they remind one of California in the way they're contstructed.

this one written by Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey..Take It Easy..

and for those old lovers of the original Route 66 a story that ties in with that.

hope you enjoy.

Ian Anderson always looked like he'd never SEEN the inside of ANY hotel. let alone one in California.

:crylol:

I did think it was a really interesting story. there's loads and loads of small towns that literally disappeared (figuratively speaking) when freeways by passed them. great to think they found/are trying to find a way to get back on the map a bit. through one line in one song.

with all due respect, that's not going to inspire a park, a statue or a mural.

:crylol:

Hope it's ok putting this in here. Also standing on the corner in East Ham was The Ruskin Arms. Ruskin Arms com. The first time I met my wife in early 82 she was going home from there. A guy I used to work with said he played there also but his band never made it. So sad to see places like this gone forever.
