Re: The Relegation Thread
At least if we go down Plymouth Argyle look like getting promoted, so I could go to a match 15 minutes from my house as a novel change.
Every cloud and all that.
Every cloud and all that.

Re: The Relegation Thread
All season I've thought it'll be Bournemouth, Forest and one other.
Forest seem to just keep throwing more and more money at players and eventually a few of them have turned out to be decent enough, so they might just survive.
Most likely at the moment to drop would be us, Bournemouth and Southampton or Everton.

Aah Championship play offs. Something to look forward to
The one we lost vs Palace. Brian Deane (?) was called offside for a goal and me Dad (RIP) woke up from his dementia and said "Kin ell ref. What did he have his cock out or something,,?". It was a sign of life!

Re: The Relegation Thread
Not overly bothered if we get relegated I rather we sort our identity first.
I think we should be a club who are heavily involved in the East End community (in all it's modern guises).
We invest in youth and give youth a chance in our first team.
We play attacking attractive football.
Us fans feel valued and make a real contribution to the running of the club.
Give cups a real go every time.
Our league position comes after all that but I'm sure if we achieve the above our league position will improve too.

I know somebody who works for the Show Racism the Red Card organisation. He reckons that West Ham do more for local community outreach than any other club in the country.Bilic'sLimp wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 9:04 am Not overly bothered if we get relegated I rather we sort our identity first.

Re: The Relegation Thread
Looks to me that the table now splits almost clearly 3 ways
1. Top 4 pull away
2. Spurs<===>Villa (separated by 6 points and 5-11 in the table), and, then,
3. Palace <==> 20th (separated by 9 points, admittedly, but their 6 victories is followed by us on 5 with 2 other teams, several on 4 and Everton stinking it out on a 15% win rate!)
I think the latter need to win a game sharpish, or will lose too much ground.
Secondly, as much as there are issues with it, our defence might prove to be the difference this season. Our goals against is the best in the bottom half and the equal of Man Un and Liverpool.

Re: The Relegation Thread
There’s starting to be too many similarities to the 2003 season for my liking.
Nice of us to honour the 20th anniversary of that mind you.

I'd be very interested to know more about this community outreach you talk of.

For all the owners' ills, the community work in Newham which has happened under their ownership has been amazing.

Re: The Relegation Thread
I'm just going by what the chap I know told me. He works with clubs all over the country. He hasn't got any West Ham bias, he is a Southend fan.
Re: The Relegation Thread
Quite right to given the Council Tax payers of Newham contributed £40 million to the conversion of the stadium for West Ham's use.jabbaglob123 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 10:23 am For all the owners' ills, the community work in Newham which has happened under their ownership has been amazing.

Re: The Relegation Thread
That’s a shame. I was looking forward to seeing them implode further under Bielsa.
