All I know is lingard is going to get a bad reception from us the atmosphere is going to be electric it's how we cope with that .this is going to be harder than we think.

Re: ⚽ Nottingham Forest v West Ham United: match thread
Oggy not playing for the u19 side last night and featuring in the, admittedly brief, training video yesterday makes me think he may start, I tend to ignore Moyes smoke screen comments on return dates after Zouma’s miracle return in Lyon. Early part of last season when we were beating Liverpool, Chelsea & Spurs Oggy was superb, up there with VVD, Dias & Rudiger. Our slow decline started with his injury. Oggy is also key to top level performances from Zouma, who for all his experience seems to need leadership and direction alongside him, which he’d also get from Aguerd once back. We need that authority at the back.
I’d also like to see Johnson at left back to negate the pace of Forest’s Johnson, and I hope Moyes starts the new forwards after yesterdays comments. I’d go with….
Areola
Coufal Zouma Ogbonna Johnson
Soucek Rice
Bowen Fornals Cornet
Scamacca
Fabianski Ashby Cresswell Downes Coventry Lanzini Antonio Benrahma Okoflex

Re: ⚽ Nottingham Forest v West Ham United: match thread
The last time I went to the City Ground we were humiliated in a 5 nil drubbing, saving ourselves for what was I think a 4-0 drubbing away at Man City. Nine goals conceded in 3 days, none scored, and out of both cups, which I suspect was Sam's plan.
Tomorrow though will be a harder test for two star Forest, despite us barely having enough players to fill the bench. Forest have been on a recruitment binge and their likely issue will be trying to gel a decent eleven from what seems like the two or three hundred they've signed .Most of their points are likely to come post World cup. so now is a good time to play them.
To compensate for our general lack of pace in the team, I would plan to play the game in their half of the pitch. Don't let them out of their own half.
Assuming Fab is still out but Oggy or Dawson have recovered I would play a traditional 4-2-4 that morphs in to a 2-4-4 with the ball, and a 4-4-2 without it. After all they don't have kenny Burns and Larry Lloyd at CB, not even Des Walker.
------------------Areola-------------------
Coufal---Dawson----Zouma---Cresswell
-------------Soucek-----Rice-------------
Bowen-----Scamacca--Antonio--Cornet
Bench -Lanzini, Benny, Fornals, Ashby, Johnson, Randy, Downes

I want to see this pairing many times this season. When Scamacca drops deep, I want three in front of him working the channels and playing off the shoulders of defenders.

If we perform I expect to win this. No silly mistakes.
In possesion would like to see Scamacca dropping in to take it to feet and the wide players to run beyond him.
Out of possesion there is plenty of energy in midfield to support the defence.
A fluid 433/4231.

no way oggy starts bench at best but doubt he will make that. dawson likely to be involved . brennan johnson will want to get at our fullbacks need to control him and lingard.
season starts tomorrow for us. hopefully we get some more players in soon, kehrer looks likely in next few days.

No I don't think we have and it's the big unspoken weakness in our side.
Lanzini, Fornals and Valsic, when he was here, all not good enough. However I'd try Fornals at 10 in the absence of anyone else - need a link between the 2 DMs and that 4 prong attack.

Just watched Jesse Lingard on soccer AM sky tv
Reckons he was offered life changing amounts of money from abroad.
But chose Forest because they wanted him badly.
He's even on WhatsApp with the owner and the manager is like a mate to him
Bullet dodged possibly?

It's certainly an odd rhetoric he's pushing with the whole "They made me feel loved."lincolnhammer1963 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 11:51 am Just watched Jesse Lingard on soccer AM sky tv

Moyes quite clearly really wanted him, and if you felt so loved and wanted why only sign on for a year?
He wants the life changing money next season and is banking on a string season making it even bigger.
Especially when he had already agreed to sign for us, how did Forest show him 'that love' so quickly for him to change his mind?

Joking apart, I agree with the need to link the parts of the team.Doc H Ball wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 11:33 am No I don't think we have and it's the big unspoken weakness in our side.

In my choice of personnel, I would move Bowen in to the middle, and have him drop deep, moving Antonio to the flank.
The main thrust of my side though was to have a front 8.Simply peg Forest back.

not sure I want to see antonio starting on the wing; thinking hammies ! I like he drifts wide and can get crosses in for sca.
preferred starting 3 are cornet scamacca bowen with fornals as a CAM would be good to see now we have cornet to better protect cresswell until we upgrade on him.
front 3 back up fornals antonio benrahma

I think a new signing in the team would add a spark and lift the other attacking players.

Seeing as it’ll be a million degrees tomorrow, anyone know if the away end is directly in the sun all game? Just deciding if I should take a hat
