Re: Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico
Plenty more to come from Paquetá
Lucas Paquetá is a lot of fun when he is in the mood. The Brazilian took a while to settle after joining West Ham from Lyon last summer and there is still a sense of more to come from him. David Moyes wants more end product from Paquetá, who has scored only five goals in all competitions this season. Yet he is is a delight to watch when he purrs. His technique is wonderfully pure and he has a lovely way of gliding past opponents. Take the moment when he dribbled beyond Leeds’s Rasmus Kristensen and set up Manuel Lanzini’s goal as West Ham eased to a 3-1 win over Sam Allardyce’s side. The control was beautiful from Paquetá, as was the imagination. It seemed he had no room but his footwork was too good for his opponent. West Ham will hope Paquetá is just as inspired against Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final.

Brilliant (over-sized) pic of him and Manu in the article too

Re: Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico
Wasn't convinced by Paqueta during some stretch this season. Got proven wrong completely. Clear now that the bad pre-season, his late arrival here and the smaller injuries that followed had a negative impact on his first four/five months at the club.
Now he's the player next to Declan ( ) you can build a team around; that gonna attract players to play with him. A maestro, who has found his groove within the pace and physical demand of the Premier League.

He looks a lot fitter now. That was his 2nd start in under 4 days and he was still running all the way until the final whistle.

Agree - and I think Aguerd needs to be afforded more time too as he's also had a very interrupted season with injuries. We'll really see the best of all these signings next season.DusseldorfHammer wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2023 8:30 am Wasn't convinced by Paqueta during some stretch this season. Got proven wrong completely. Re: Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico
He's like the dream West Ham player from days past.
Brazilian, cool name, ridiculous skill, serious work ethic, as physical as he is technical, and seems to love the club.
Misko needs some respect. He was spot on. It would take a while but now that Lucas adapted to the league and felt the love of the fans, the world-class talent has arrived.
Not even been here a season yet he is one game away from making himself a Legend, as are the rest of his teammates.

Re: Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico
Assuming Lanzini does leave, do we give Paqueta the #10? He’s not really a #10 in position, but there’s something about a Brazilian midfielder wearing the #10 shirt that just looks right.

I'm still in favour of having no number 10, and instead having 2 number 8's.EastleighHammer16 wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2023 10:36 am Assuming Lanzini does leave, do we give Paqueta the #10? Please don't play him against Leicester. Absolutely zero reason to risk it...

Re: Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico
Perhaps controversially, I would go full strength against Leicester and play the team that Moyes will be lining up against Fiorentina. The final is 10 days later, and so we need our players to be as sharp as possible

Re: Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico
I still think he's capable of more and could do with a better more skilful midfield partner alongside him [ Pablo will do ] and a striker who can control a ball when fed through . I like Benrahma but his movement and crossing can be suspect at times - so a better left sided wide player would be nice too .
I realise I'm asking for a lot here but there's no point in having a Genius surrounded by Dunces .

Spot on! One of the Man City players (can't remember who) made the point that they want to keep playing to keep momentum going as difficult to switch it off then turn on form back again when required.kentishiron wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2023 11:39 am Perhaps controversially, I would go full strength against Leicester and play the team that Moyes will be lining up against Fiorentina. IIRC, that rule is only up until Christmas, and think it's 10 after that timeThe_Dead_Ball wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2023 11:55 am Wasn't the booking yesterday his 5th? His is suspended next game?

I'm still perplexed that nobody calls him by his real name, Lucas Tolentino Coelho de Lima!
I won't be happy till I hear it being sung in full on mass in Prague

Re: Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico
I'm not sure the exact pronunciation of "Coelho" but I've got an inkling you can replace everything after "Super" in "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" with his full name and it scans.
You can take it from here.
