Their anti social hours and abuse from customers alone they deserve it.
Mumbles I see you gallantly explaining to the unlistening.

I understand it, so do others. Some dont or wont.

Time to relax and give it up.

This means life and limb services will not run. A&E and ITU will have no nursing staff.

The government needs to suck it up and talk to the RCN and actually seriously talk about pay.

They are literally going to let people die. Sorry, but I don’t agree with this at all.

The combination of a militant and inefficient workforce, with a government that can’t manage its way out of a paper bag is going to see the NHS crash and burn. There’s so many good and hardworking people in the NHS that are led by idiots and drowned in bureaucracy, they don’t stand a chance.

From what I read on BBC, it sounded like trusts would have to attempt getting cover via staff from other unions, agency workers etc. first, then failing that then this union's staff would be used (for the areas deemed more critical, so the ones that couldn't strike before).

If that's the case, that's fine as there will be cover anyway. If it's not the case, then most likely some people will die directly because of it. I have no idea how well that complies with the Hippocratic Oath.

It’s all just really sad that it’s got to this point. The RCN have been very clear from the start, if the Government puts pay on the table they will call it off. The Government still refuse that request.

For what it’s worth, and despite my clear views on this thread, I think they’ll be a fair number of NHS staff who will refuse to take part in the strike if it impacts emergency care.

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has announced a strike from 06:00 on Wednesday 1 March until 06:00 on Friday 3 March. Previous strikes lasted 12 hours during the day shift.

Hopefully this means it's not cancelled as it ends 6am on the 3rd so should be work as normal?

Main surgery is the 3rd, on 2nd, admitted for a minor presurgical procedure under local anaesthetic.

Surgery on 3rd cannot take place without the procedure on 2nd.

****ing ay.

But this is why I am even more proud of my sister. She is crossing picket lines because she joined the profession to care for people. The thought of people not getting the care they need or deserve pisses her right off. Lives come before pay.

She can also tell you how efficiency can gained - stop sitting on your arses all day in the nurses station ploughing your way through tins of Quality Street.
Wife's cousin does the meals at Broomfield. She has lost count how many times she has told nurses sat on their backsides that patient in bed x needs the toilet, only them to either be laying in their own piss and **** for an hour.

The consultant strike ballot is very likely to vote for strike action

Could it? 35% based on working out so iffy their colleagues are saying they look a bit silly. No discussions first (it's all the govts fault gov) straight 3 day walk out. They were never not going on strike imo .because the new leadership sees it as an opportunity. The BMA have always been the most political of unions and they smell blood in the water.
