Premier League
Saturday 1st October
KO 17:30

I know we have a little bit more time until our next competitive fixture. But I am intrigued to see what teams everyone will go with to try and turn our season around in the League.

Break up the Rice Soucek axis.
Pacquetta in for Soucek.
Play Fornals centrally.
Get Benrahma back and stop making him the scapegoat.
Put Antonio wide.
Scamacca up top with Lanzini tucked in behind.

The problem is none of our players seem able to play from minute 1 to 90.

Love the image above funky 👍

Change the emphasis to playing through the middle. I've spoke to a few Burnley fans who feel that Cornet was wasted as a winger and played much better as a forward. Like Bowen, he does seem to come alive a lot more in the penalty box.

Alternatively, drop our Czech duo for a game and play 4-2-3-1 with greater emphasis on possession...

To be honest I'm not even that bothered if we lose. I'd rather lose and see a much better performance and signs we're looking to adapt and make the most of our players, than win by playing the same tired tactics. It's not the results I'm currently fed up with. It's the football.

It’s difficult as even as a fan base we can’t agree on which players need to be dropped and where the problems are. Personally I’d look at bringing Dawson back in and moving Kehrer to right back. From an attacking sense there’s no one that fills me with confidence, but Benrahma is the most likely to create/score at the moment so should start.

Diego Costa will inevitably score on debut so we’ll need to find two goals from somewhere.

People saying Moyes has the two week break to shake things up. But a lot of the players are away on international duty.

I would like to see this team start against Wolves.

Areola

Kehrer-------Dawson------Zouma---------Emerson

---------------Fornals------Rice

------Benrahma-------Paqueta-------Cornet

-----------------------Scamacca

Subs: Fabianski, Coufal, Cresswell, Bowen, Antonio, Lanzini, Soucek, Ogbonna, Downes.

Plenty of options from the bench to change things up. Unfortunately Moyes isn’t very proactive unless we are losing and it’s gone past 60 minutes.

Never stop puff you are getting my hopes up.

It’s not even about changing formation/players

Just changing the way we play

Also any formations that don’t have cresswell/soucek/Bowen in might as well be pie in the sky cause it nots going to happen

Can’t really argue against this, it’s dropping players who aren’t playing well and playing those that have impressed when coming on

I was pretty sure we'd lose to Everton before the game.

I'm pretty sure we'll win this one.

We're at home, it's under the lights, it isn't at god awful Sunday 2pm, we will have had a break from playing Thursdays.

I’d like to see

Fabianski

Kehrer
Zouma
Ogbonna - must be fit enough to start after the break!
Emerson

Rice
Downes
Paqueta

Benrahma

Antonio
Scamacca

It will almost certainly be the same XI as yesterday though, maybe with Johnson in for Coufal….

Train strike might dent crowd numbers though.

I'd like Scamacca to come in for Bowen, with Antonio and Benrahma supporting him effectively. Kehrer at RB with Zouma and Ogbonna at CB. I know there are some question marks over Ogbonna, but it has been our best CB partnership for a while when they actually managed to play together. Our defence isn't atrocious, but I think Coufal is the weakest link in atm and Kehrer moving over would make the most sense.

Absolutely Buxe, it's what I'd go for.

At the moment, I am thinking……

———————————Areola——————————

-Kehrer——-Zouma————Ogbonna——-Emerson-

——————-Downes————-Rice——————————-

———————————Paqueta—————————————

-Benrahma——-—-Scamacca———————-Cornet-

Subs: Fabianski, Coufal, Dawson, Cresswell, Soucek, Fornals, Lanzini, Bowen, Antonio.

I don’t know if Johnson will be fit yet, so left him out for now. But it’s a chance to maybe see Kehrer at rightback.

The 2 positions I am hesitating over the most is goalkeeper and left back. As I don’t think either Fab or Cresswell have played particularly bad. I am in 2 minds with the goalkeeper position, as I just wonder if we wouldn’t be as slow with our play from the back if we started with Areola. And we may also keep possession of the ball better too with Areola being better with the ball at his his feet. And of course Areola is more likely to have a long term future here. Having said all that, other than arguably the 1st goal we conceded at Stamford Bridge, Fab hasn’t done anything wrong for me. And I certainly trust him more with crosses than I ever have with Areola.

Emerson, similar sort of reasons why I went with him over Cresswell. We need more pace. But if we had Cornet in front of Cresswell it could work anyway.

I may tweak my team again nearer to the date. But that’s what I am thinking for now.

So long as we keep Fornals, Soucek and Coufal out the squad we might actually stand a chance

Why only those 3 ?

Two teams who between them have managed 6 goals this season. A 0-0 thriller awaits.

Time to bring the new signings in and stick with them for at least the next 3, they are our future.

Areola
Johnson Zouma Kehrer Emerson
Rice Downes Paqueta
Bowen Scamacca Cornet

Once he’s fit Aguerd comes alongside Zouma, Kehrer to right back and Johnson fights Emerson for the left back spot. Downes holds midfield and keeps the ball moving, Paqueta and either of the 2 wider forwards need to get far closer to Scamacca once we have the ball.

Paqueta to 8, Benrahma to 10, change the full backs, probably pick Scamacca, Cornet in for Fornals, not sure whether you keep Bowen or switch for Antonio.
