Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Wolverhampton Wanderers: match thread
I can't see Antonio having the legs to play on the wing, and whenever we've played two up front we've not played Antonio.
It was Bowen and Lingard, and this season we've seen Bowen, Cornet and Scamacca in a front two, but never Antonio.
There must be a reason it's never Antonio used in that formation, I'm inclined to trust the people who see them in training every day as appealing as Antonio and Scamacca together is on paper.

Fabianski, Creswell, Coufal, Soucek, Bowen, Antonio need to earn their places back, though Ogbonna, Fornals and Antonio are less guilty.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Wolverhampton Wanderers: match thread
I feel, as many do on here, that we need a real change of attitude for this coming game. If we are doing anything other than going in all guns blazing then we will be punished again. Counter attack wing back football seems to have let us down. 433 formation please Moysie, with Oggy and Zouma at the centre of defence, Emerson on the left, Coufal or maybe Kehrer on the right.
I said it before the last game but swap out Soucek for Downes. He looks solid and works hard - deserves a chance at the least. Fornals and Rice make up that three. In front I think we want Pacqueta, and Scamacca. Happy with either Cornet or Bennie up there as well.
Options might be to drop Pacqueta back to replace Fornals maybe - so he gets the ball further back and can link through to likely Bennie and Cornet ahead. I also quite like the idea of bringing on hungry Antonio and / or Bowen as impact players off the bench - but we need to be up and snapping at them from the first whistle regardless.

As well as the line up, formation and the importance of this game, I'm also concerned about the attendance. There's no trains in and out of London from Kent now, and apparently only around 11% rail service nationwide. I usually drive so will have to consider the impact (M2 junction closed where I am) more traffic and obviously more demand for parking! I know a lot of Hammers travel up from Kent, even from the coastal towns so there's definately going to be a fair few absent I fear.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Wolverhampton Wanderers: match thread
This game certainly won’t be a draw. It’ll either be another miserable defeat against one of these typical defensive sides we always seem to struggle to break down. Or we’ll win by a 1 goal margin.
I fancy the latter. I think Moyes will finally make some changes to the team and I just think our attack may just have the edge in this one.
2-1 West Ham.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Wolverhampton Wanderers: match thread
Thought this game was rather unique last season.
It was one of the few games we engaged them high up the pitch with an aggressive press, knowing Wolves had little pace to exploit us. We played well and was good to see a positive mentality. Possibly the only time we have deployed a back 3/5 in 18 months and I thought it was decent.
Was still very close though and there has been very little to sing about in the league since that game. Just patches.
Get Kehrer in a RB. 433. Pace on the wings.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Wolverhampton Wanderers: match thread
we never play that well with a 3 as ends up as a 5 and we go backwards.
assuming johnson is still out and antonio survives tonights match I would go
fabianski
kehrer dawson zouma emerson
rice downes paqueta
bowen scamacca cornet
subs areola coufal ogbonna cresswell soucek lanzini benrahma fornals antonio
1-0 hammers scamacca
if bowen is not doing it then benrahma on second half
we have a strong bench and moyes needs to use it as we need to win this game !
relisted my seat so we are bound to play well as wont be there !

Didn't realise that the C2C was added to the rail strike, so I won't be at this one now either.
Wondering what the attendance is going to be like.

It’s crazy they’re going ahead with this really with the train strike occurring on the same day. Will we have a repeat of the attendance we saw at home to Southampton last season?

We've just cancelled our train for Saturday. We were booked on the 21:00 from KX back to Yorkshire but the strike day revised timetable means the last train back Up North is now at 16:06!

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Wolverhampton Wanderers: match thread
Brighton Palace was cancelled cos of train strikes?
I cant see Moyes changing the softly softly keep them out for 45 approach, go 1-0 down and then wake up and bemoan the players.
I pray I am wrong but I just don't see it.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Wolverhampton Wanderers: match thread
Stradium will still be full imo. Nowhere near the levels of southampton last season.
C2C is still running (albeit 2 trains an hour)
London Underground is still running.
5:30 kick off on saturday, plenty of time to get there

Getting there isn't the issue it's getting home, trains stop running completely around kick off time I believe?BobbyMooreLower wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 11:47 am Stradium will still be full imo. Nowhere near the levels of southampton last season.
