Re: ICC T20 World Cup 2022
Out of touch and timing for much of his innings, Stokes dug so deep, deep, deep today and got us over the line. Again. What a player and what a fighter. Delighted for England. Rare to see such belief in an English national team in any sport.

Not to flop when it really matters, very un’English’. Must be the New Zealander in himdasnutnock3 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 11:49 am Trying to think of a better competitor in English sport than Stokes.

This weekend just got better.
Great win. Dual winners of the white ball game.
Outstanding achievement.
Very proud to be an Englishman.

I wonder if Stokes will call it a day on white ball now. He’s in his 30s and looked knackered towards the end.
Nothing left to prove.

Re: ICC T20 World Cup 2022
A great game - it ebbed and flowed and a great comeback by the Pakistanis who bowled and fielded superbly. Stokes took advantage of Afridi’s injury which was when the game turned back more towards England .
It would have been even more of a nail biter had he not got injured but think we’d still have still got over the line … just!!

A terrific performance by England throughout what has been a great tournament. (Stuff the 100, this is so much better)

There isn’t one. He’s done it in all forms of the game on a multitude of occasions.dasnutnock3 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 11:49 am Trying to think of a better competitor in English sport than Stokes.

Was looking a bad weekend with defeats in the tennis, rugby league and women's rugby union (not to mention a certain poxy football team) but a glorious end. Thank you Jos and co.

Top forumming this morning chaps. Not many of my pals or family take to cricket, so good to have some chat and people to share the ups and downs with today.

Great entertainment, and well done England. I actually felt a bit sorry for Pakistan at the death, and I never expected that! The injury was possibly pivotal, although I'd still have made us favourites at the death even without it.
I confess I prefer the longer versions of the game, but excellent stuff over the past couple of weeks.

Re: ICC T20 World Cup 2022
What a result. With 50 balls to go I had to go to a Remembrance Sunday event, that was a real battle of conscience!
Just got home and watched the end. I said Stokes should not be in the squad at the start of the tournament, happy to eat some humble pie!
I think what I've most liked about this event was the bowling. A few years back I thought T20 was too batter favourable, and bowlers were on a hiding to nothing. However the performance from bowlers in both teams today showed otherwise and how much skill has evolved over the years.
Curran and Rashid literally bowled some of the best overs ever.
Great win. Very happy.

Just seen that man of the tournament Sam Curran is not in the team of the tournament. How odd!

Re: ICC T20 World Cup 2022
So many excellent England memories to treasure from this World Cup.
• Buttlers captaincy at key moments
• Sam Currans consistently brilliant bowling on the death overs.
• Rashid’s world class bowling culminating in what was truly one of the best t20 overs I’ve seen today
• Stokes against Sri Lanka, his wicket of Williamson & obviously today
• Jordan and Livingstone in the field
• Woods awesome speed throughout
• The openers against India
So proud of them. Brilliant.
