Tory MPs to get free vote on Johnson sanctions
Rishi hanging him out to dry.Conservative MPs are to be given a free vote on any sanctions handed out to Boris Johnson if he is found to have misled Parliament over Partygate.
The former prime minister faces a crucial televised evidence session in front of the Commons Privileges Committee on Wednesday.
The committee is yet to publish its final verdict - but its initial update earlier this month said Mr Johnson may have misled Parliament multiple times.
.............
Crucially, though, MPs would have to approve any sanction on Mr Johnson.
Downing Street sources say it is a matter for the House of Commons and MPs will therefore be given a free vote - meaning they will not be "whipped" to vote a certain way.
That means Tory MPs would not be asked to vote one way or another, as they were over the proposed suspension of Owen Paterson in November 2021, when Mr Johnson was still prime minister.

Starmer & Labour probably like him to hang around fighting the bit with the privileges committee, highlighting the puke stains in Downing Street and the Tory party's embedded corruption. Johnson is likely deluded and entitled enough to play right into their hands as he earnestly believes he's been wronged in some way.
I reckon the the Tory-loaded privileges committee verdict will be some technical fudge with just enough rebuke, but falling short of recommending a suspension and so a recall petition.
Shame, as I'm sure the good people of Uxbridge have taken a view on the £3.7m earned in just the first 6 weeks of this year from 2nd 'jobs', on top of the basic MP salary of £84,144 he gets for not representing them.

Sunak publishes his tax records
Rishi Sunak paid more than £1m in UK tax over the last three years, details of the prime minister's financial affairs show.
The UK tax was paid on earnings of more than £4.7m from income and a US-based investment fund.
Mr Sunak first said he would publish a tax return during his unsuccessful campaign to be Tory leader last year.
He faced calls to be transparent about his finances after it emerged his wife, Akshata Murty, had non-dom status.

Indeed. However he is paying what he owes and what he earns through his investments is of no concern of mine I don't think despite how I feel in general about the tories at the moment.

As Much as I'm totally against Illegal immigration...and very much siding with Gov on new belated stance...and this may sound a littleDanny's Dyer Acting wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 9:13 am Twenty five officers attended to this. What a waste of police resources.
Also find it very interesting that they didn't see a need to plaster the business owner all over the internet given he's arguably committed the far bigger crimes here.
hypocritical but,I hope they give the 2 workers some leniency ,fine the Employer absolutely, but least the 2 guys went out and found some
work for themselves,fair dues...
Don't know full story obviously tho...could be forced coersion of some kind on them, but if they did find their own work, that has to be taken
into account in what happens to them.
That's the difference in all this, sorting out the people that genuinely want to work and have a better life from those that come for
an easy time..Benefits...Crime etc.

Managed to vote for a tax cut that he himself benefitted from to the tune of £300k. Must be nice to be able to have the power to do that for yourself.bonzosbeard wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 8:29 pm Indeed. Lawson equalised cap gains and income tax rates in 1988. It remained that way for 20 years when the govt of the day changed it to give an advantage to earnings from capital.
