Your exact words were:
This isn't the first time I have seen a comparison between the treatment of protestors and football fans on NUMB, and I think it is downright sad that anybody would see it as comparable
That to me sounds like you were saying it was different.
My point really is that posters taking solace from the excessive use of powers, just because the heat is off football fans, is not good. And rather that pointing and laughing at the protestors, perhaps being critical of the people in the past who were the reason behind the moral panic (and in some cases genuine and justifiable panic) about football hooliganism, and the excessive sanctions and policing, and the sanitised matchday experience we have today. To be clear, I’m not justifying it.
Nobody (certainly not me) is taking any solace from the excessive use of powers by the police. Nobody on here was pointing and laughing at the protesters (certainly not me) who were arrested unjustly and certainly not laughing at the innocent woman who was arrested. I think everyone is big enough to realise that today it might be protesters at a coronation and tomorrow it could be us at a GSB protest.

No words - seems US police were holidaying in Auz.

I know , should have put one in the knee first , then kicked away her walking frame .....these 95 year olds can be deceptive , before you know it they've taken another half a step forward . Hopefully the brave Policeman was wearing a stab vest .

Anyway , another one off the streets , they can sleep easy again .

She received an item that was Jekyll so she reported to Vinted for a refund. She got a message back with a picture of our house; a warning that they were going to come and get their money and she should warn her family about their safety, followed by them saying they were going to bring tools and a picture of a hand holding a Glock 17.

After being on hold for over an hour with 101 and obviously a little shaken she decided to call 999. With an hpir we had 2 coppers on the door step. One took a statement the itger checked over the house. They have flagged our numbers so were we to call 999 then armed back up would be put on standby. They said that altbogh its likely a keyboard warrior she was right to call and any threat that involves a firearm is taken very seriously.

Jeepers , that must have been genuinely scary . Can they not trace these bastards ??

Meanwhile , up in the Highlands Of Scotland -

We were watching a few episodes of ' Highland Cops ' the other day , Skye was featured on a couple of them , a visit from Prince Charles and Camilla in Portree and someone causing a bit of bother with a baseball bat , again up in Portree .

The one which made me laugh were the two Police Officers who were patrolling Dornie on the night Kinlochshiel won the Camanachd Cup [ Shinty competition ] - I know one of them , she's the daughter ** of an ex colleague and mate from our Ferry Days - anyway , their job that night was to chat to the locals at the Clachan Bar to make sure that none were going to be drinking and driving then they met the Shinty Bus on the Dornie Bridge , stopped them and asked them if they'd like the blue flashing lights or the back lights flashing as they were given a Police Escort across the bridge to the Pub . They went with both . Blue flashing lights and back lights flashing .

And that's how you deal with the general public , they were great craic .

Wales police:

"No, we wasn't chasing the two lads on the electric bike that died in Ely last night, that led to rioting. We arrived on the scene afterwards."

Local resident with CCTV on their house:

Hold my beer.

They don't do themselves any favours, do they?

The road this all kicked off on adjoins the road I was living on briefly...

I’ve always believed that in general police would not pursue a bike as it would deem too much of a risk, Let alone with a van, at 6pm?

Gonna have a tough time explaining this especially after the denial earlier

To be fair not many people have CCTV or Ring cameras on their gaffs now do they? :chin:

What on earth were the Police thinking saying that? The van goes whizzing after them about a second later.

I think that was the case, but little shits on scooters were causing mayhem because they knew plod wouldn't give chase. After loads of complaints from the public police changed tactics and were prepared to knock the twats flying........

Cardiff riots: Police police refer themselves to watchdog
Police are verifying CCTV showing a police van following two people on an electric bike minutes before a fatal crash that sparked a riot in Cardiff.

Those who died were named locally as Kyrees Sullivan, 16, and Harvey Evans, 15.

The footage shows the South Wales Police van and the bike 900m, or just over half a mile, from the crash site.

But police said none of their vehicles were on Snowden Road in Ely - where the crash was - at the time it happened.
