A senior Met Police officer who was being investigated over child abuse images has been found dead.
The body of Ch Insp Richard Watkinson, who was suspended from duty, was found at home in Buckinghamshire on Thursday.
The officer was being investigated for conspiracy to distribute indecent images of children, voyeurism and misconduct in public office.
He was first arrested by police watchdog the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) on 9 July 2021.
Mr Watkinson was serving with the West Area command unit at the time of the arrest.
Due to "significant developments in the investigation", the case was then passed on to specialist officers at the Met Police.

Two of my old teachers have been jailed for sex offences in recent years. I knew one was a wrong un but the other surprises me (despite being a b*stard.) You’re raised to trust these people in authority.

If you really want to see the extent of the corruption and illegal activity within the UK police forces subscribe to this channel:

Almost daily there's cases of police being dismissed, prosecuted or disciplined for a variety of crimes and infractions. It's pretty frightening when you see the extent of what's going on within the police forces in this country.
Oh and anything the Met do, the PSNI can do better ...

Two to three criminal cases against officers are expected to go to court every week in the coming months, the Met Police commissioner has revealed.
Sir Mark Rowley apologised to the victims of former officer David Carrick and said the public should "prepare for more painful stories as we confront cases that… corrupt our integrity".
Speaking at a meeting of the London Assembly's Police and Crime Committee, Sir Mark said the force had not "applied the same level of ruthlessness" to upholding its integrity as it applied to fighting crime.
He also said that the Met will "probably find many cases where we got it wrong" in their review of hundreds of officers historically accused of sexual offences and domestic abuse.

Another institution that needs a Royal Commission opened up.
If you’ve been a victim of sexual assault, why would you report it to the Met right now?

Re: The Police
I always said that the whole race thing with the George Floyd murder was misguided. It wasn't a racist killing, it was how some police in the USA act towards not just black people but everyone. Just some examples here:Macca1973 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 6:06 am https://news.sky.com/story/tyre-nichols ... g-12796236

Their training and understanding on the law and the Constitution (which is part of the oath they swear as police officers) is woeful. There's weekly lawsuits against the police which run into thousands and sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars for police misconduct. What needs to be borne in mind is that this is tax-payer's money that's used for these payouts. In many cases the police aren't prosecuted and they're even protected from civil claims because they have what's known as "qualified immunity" which basically protects police unless they have acted incompetently or knowingly acted unlawfully.
