Re: England's World Cup chances
Lack of stars right now but the core of that USA squad is going to be a problem for people in 4 years time if they can find a more regular source of goals.

Re: England's World Cup chances
You backed them at 10s 18months ago ???
They are 8s today with Skybet
Re: England's World Cup chances
That would seem about right.
We have to win four games.
Some of the opponents are probably a bit better than us and some a bit worse, so it averages out at four 50:50 matches.
Re: England's World Cup chances
Germany and Belgium are out which has to be good for the other seeded teams, although that’s not to downplay the threat that the likes of Japan pose
But I think all other teams will see England as a major threat and if Southgate can be brave with his selection and in game management we could go all the way

Re: England's World Cup chances
German football needs an overhaul now. Where they went wrong was failure to ditch Loewe immediately after the last World Cup. He outstayed his welcome by 2 years and that did not allow Flick enough time to carry out an overhaul of their playing system, which is too slow for the way things now are and players like Thomas Muller are now over the hill. They require a complete overhaul if they are to avoid another embarrassment in four years time

Re: England's World Cup chances
So England qualify with the best record on GD and scored the joint highest, can only mean one thing.
Pens loss to Senegal.
Pens loss to Senegal.
Re: England's World Cup chances
Perhaps this is our year. No doubting that our attack is better than our defence, but all you have to do is outscore your opponents. What a match we have in prospect, if we beat France, we can go on to win it.

Three games, go make your self a legend. Simples. We can win this, personally I think the French are the best team left. Beat them and it’s there for the taking.

Not writing anyone off but I don’t look at Brazil and think ‘wow’.Puff Daddy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 9:06 pm Don't write off Brazil. They haven't set the world alight yet, but they will get better and better from hereon in

Re: England's World Cup chances
Me neither, they haven't turned it on yet. They need Neymar to get them firing. Without him, they fire on only two cylinders. He will back for the quarters as their squad depth is not as deep as our

Missing Sterling is a blow but he needs to go and look after priority No.1. Hope his family are all safe and well.

Re: England's World Cup chances
One impressive stat I've discovered during the course of this World Cup involving England and that's not 1 English player picking up a single yellow card. The discipline in our side is exemplary.
Not sure whether we're the only Nation not to be cautioned but we're definitely 1 of them.
