Anything more than 2 lines is disqualified in my opinion.

The title track of the album (his best), how could you not want to hear the whole story after an opening line like that?

In your white lace and your wedding bells
You look the picture of contented new wealth
But from the on-looking fool who believed your lies
I wish this grave would open up and swallow me alive…

It's all subjective of course, but I'm sorry to say that I think that Weller lyric is appalling.

'In your white lace and your wedding bells' - lace, fine, but Is she supposed to be wearing wedding bells? Makes no sense.
'You look the picture of contented new wealth' - why does she have 'new wealth'? has she married a millionaire?
'I wish this grave would open up and swallow me alive' - why is there a grave there now? aren't we at a wedding? Is the church double booked?

Only way to feel the noise is when it's good and loud
So good I can't believe it, screaming with the crowd

If we're doing first verses, there isn't much that can beat

I am the one, Orgasmatron, the outstretched grasping hand
My image is of agony, my servants rape the land
Obsequious and arrogant, clandestine and vain
Two thousand years of misery, of torture in my name
Hypocrisy made paramount, paranoia the law
My name is called religion; sadistic, sacred whore

These are the hands of a tired man
This is the old man's shroud
These are the eyes of a blood crazed tiger
Staring at the maddening crowd…
