Same on screen 3 tonight, missed all the other games today and most of yesterdays stuff.. NFL still getting pride of place on screen 2 on a Sunday evening.. I won't even be watching first half of England on Tuesday..was on train for first half of game on.. The world would have stopped for a WC 10-15 years a go for me but not now.

I love footy being on every night so enjoying it.
Prefer it in the summer with bbq and beers but I'll take it.

I mean, I'm enjoying it being on, just not quite as good in the winter.
Having said that, no post WC blues this time.. AND only 3 1/2 years 'til the next one..

I've always preferred the knockout stages to be honest.
I love football, but I've never been one for watching multiple games a day.

Re: World cup. Anyone unexpectedly enjoying it?
I think every International tournament that goes by the more obvious the drop in quality is compared to top European sides and leagues. I suppose it’s natural when clubs have unlimited wealth and world class coaches training them most of the year but the World Cup is nowhere near the pinnacle of football that it maybe once was. It’s far more fun in the summer where the alternative is no football at all
Watchable though and i’ve enjoyed a few of the games but i’d still gladly have cancelled it and continued with the Leagues

I've quite enjoyed having it on in the background while I've been working from home although I took a break from it this weekend. I don't think I watched any of the last world cup such was my antipathy towards England.

Re: World cup. Anyone unexpectedly enjoying it?
Been some decent drama, but low on quality and attacking intent so far I reckon. A little surprising given how much talk there was that a mid-season World Cup would mean the players were fresher than usual.
Difficult to know how much teams are playing within themselves given the condensed timetable. Do expect thing to pick up for the final round of group games, which seems to have more riding on it than usual.
Biggest disappointment for me so far is the lack of quality goals. Usually a few absolute screamers in the first week or two of a World Cup, but not many so far.

Re: World cup. Anyone unexpectedly enjoying it?
Yeah Slowly been roped in..
Love the Passion that footie brings and the WC is the pinnicle of that, seeing Grown men Cry and women to,cause they've won/lost
a footie match....Players and fans is amazing..
TBH don't think British fans are as emotional over the game as the South Americans,Middles East Dudes,Japanese are, even Yanks
and Canadians, are bringing more passion to matches.
Japanese Guys and Girls cleaning the terraces after, and players tidying changing rooms..brilliant.
Not enjoying my betting on it,been absolutely smashed...
Also don't enjoy to much the Booing/Jeering when other team is in possession, obviously been watching Red Scouse games, they love a good Boo.
Hopefully the Qataris are seeing what the rest of the world brings, and how it feels about certain things, and might give them a little
enlightenment...live in hope..

Being a cold, wet, Sunday it was almost a perfect day if you like footy.
Saw most of all the games yesterday, so that was quite enjoyable.

Re: World cup. Anyone unexpectedly enjoying it?
Wife has asked why am I falling asleep to so many games, because I'm not really that bothered, not seen anything that has kept me awake. Although like a previous poster, that last 10 - 20 minutes of Iran/Wales kept me wide awake

Re: World cup. Anyone unexpectedly enjoying it?
Am I enjoying it? Well I'm watching it, but I'm not exactly scheduling my life around catching every game.
I think one of the things that is taking the shine off the whole competition is the behind-the-scenes grubbiness of it all.

Re: World cup. Anyone unexpectedly enjoying it?
It's been great!!
Still a three way tie in group A, with The Netherlands, Senegal and Ecuador.
Still a two way tie between the US and Iran
Still possible for Argentina to go out, at the group stage
Still possible for Australia to qualify for the knock out stage
Still possible for Germany to go out, at the group stage
Still a three way tie between Croatia, Morocco and Belgium
Ronaldo still scoring goals, the Swiss are winning and Uruguay has still a chance to get through

Re: World cup. Anyone unexpectedly enjoying it?
I watched all but 15 minutes of the Argentina v Saudi Arabia game - missed both Saudi goals
I watched all but 15 minutes of the German v Japan game - missed both Japan goals
I tuned in 5 minutes into the Canada v Croatia game - missed the Canada goal.
I have watched an awful lot of fairly tepid games though. It's been all right, but nothing amazing.

Re: World cup. Anyone unexpectedly enjoying it?
nah,
vast majority of games have been ****. Can't wait for a load of 0-0s today.
Also doesn't count as a world cup - basically a glorified pre-season tournament. Massive asterisk next to whoever wins it.
can't wait for it to be over.
