It’s just getting started.

Im thinking back to the Euros last year. I didnt get excited in the groups at all. It was beating the Germans, thrashing Ukraine and then doing over Denmark that made that tournament.

Beat France and it’s ours to lose. Next weekend is going to be excruciating.

Politics aside, i have, surprisingly, enjoyed this WC so far, England's form, loads of goals, Germany going out, Enner Valencia, some shock results but mainly refs letting things go and much less diving, cheating and s hit housing than we get in the Prem. Kane went down a couple of times today with little contact and the ref ignored it, not sure that will continue when domestic football starts again unfortunately.

The 4 fancied teams have all won in the R16 thus far. The quarters look to be exciting. Us vs the old enemy, the Argies and Dutch. Spain/Portugal is on the cards, the Brazil/Croatia.

Its been a great tournament so far.

I'm hoping for Japan v South Korea.

Imagine how massive that would be plus an east Asian team guaranteed in the semis. Just brilliant.

I have decided not to watch it, so I am living it through forums, Kumb being the most active one on the topic. I actually enjoy it, it is a refreshing experience.

Despite the politics and the winter scheduling of it, I was never not going to watch it and have been thoroughly enjoying it so far, and there's been more shocks and the most drama-filled last round of group games that I can remember. WFH has definitely helped though and the timing of the games has been quite good for the days I haven't been in the office, much better than they would have been if the tournament should have rightfully been given to Australia

And sure its a bit chilly but I've still been having a BBQ and beers

Beers, mates and beating the French. How could you not enjoy that?

Been a great World Cup.

Unfortunately FIFA have decided to f*** it all up next time with 48 teams.

A staggeringly awful decision that is worse than allowing Qatar to host this one, IMHO

Why ruin what is a pretty much ideal spectacle?

Agree!

Funniest thing about it is that they're almost certainly going to have to bring in three-team groups to make it work, which will do away with the longstanding approach of playing the last group games simultaneously, which in turn will lead to a couple of teams colluding together to get through and to knock a third team out.

Amazing how corruption leads so naturally to further corruption.

Open it up to lesser nations and they’ll vote for you next time, straight out the Blatter playbook.

I don't know why it is, but it just is, that whoever wins it, won't stay at the top of the pile for long. It's just the way it works. Maybe, this explains why no team since Brazil in 1962 has successfully retained the title. So should we win it and I'm beginning to think we will, we must milk it and revel in it, because as any professional sportsman will tell you, once you reach the pinnacle in sport, others are lining up to take your crown

This weekend will be interesting as the first proper cold snap of the winter sets in.

Imagine watching an England World Cup win v France in a pub and then going outside to have a massive snowball fight. :crylol:

It could be carnage for ambulance services up and down the country with the mix of sub-zero conditions and the alcohol/footy combination.

Same. However, on Sunday I was celebrating a friend's birthday and despite her admitting to finding football to be annoying, she decided to commit to watching all of the England games so I reluctantly relented. The likes of Saka and Bellingham help to make England more likeable, but I still wasn't that bothered by most of it.

There's always snow involved when England play, no matter the climate..

Anyone on here, have you been out there for a game or is anyone planning on going?

Just wonder what it is like going to and attending one of the games out there?

On a similar note, while watching on telly, not spotted many West Ham flags in the crowd at England games this time around. Usually see a few crossed hammers. The only one I've seen was at one of the group games (can't remember which) - Bolton Hammers.
