Thought they should have stopped after the Temple of Doom.

I preferred Last Crusade to Temple of Doom but as is normally the case in franchise series, the original is best. The less said about Kingdom of The Crystal Skull the better.
The purpose of a trailer is obviously to whet your appetite and make you want to go see the film and the new trailer has certainly got me interested at least.

This entire franchise has always left me cold. It shouldn't have done - Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford represented a bit of a dream ticket for me when I was a kid - but it did. I've seen the first film several times over the years, the sequel a couple of times, the Sean Connery one once, and never really got on with any of it. One day I'll buy the blu-rays and try to give them another whirl, maybe. The first two at least should really be a bit of me.

Temple of Doom was a favourite as a child, but the general rule for almost all sequels is that they're ****

Well I'm looking forward to it. I personally thought Last Crusade was the best so far... even the Crystal Skull had it's moments.

I say give it a chance. The last one wasn't a failure because Harrison Ford was too old. It was a failure due to having a crap script, and abandoning its successful formula, and the godawful CGI, and Ray Winstones annoying character, and Shia Lebeouf swinging through jungles making Tarzan sounds, and aliens. People bang on about the fridge scene but I think the main reason people bang on about it was down to just how crap the film was after that point. The beginning of the film up until the end of that scene was actually going well. The fridge scene was no more ridiculous than many scenes in the films before it. If the rest of the film had been better then that scene would have been seen as an entertaining tongue-in-cheek moment - which is probably what is was meant to be. They've had plenty of time to go back and analyze things and I hope they've learnt from the mistakes of that film and devised something better this time round. If the script is good and the special effects are better then there's hope, regardless of how old the main character is. George Lucas has had less input this time which isn't a bad thing (it was him that came up with the whole aliens idea in Crystal Skull), and the addition of Mads Mikkelsen is positive. He rarely puts in a bad performance. The director and writer has a pretty decent track record too.

Looks awful.

From what I have read it is about time travel. Phoebe Waller bridge is going to play his side kick with the view being she will become a female version of Indiana Jones for the next set of movies.

The first three were all imho outstanding films and rightly classed as classics, the 4th was pretty poor but in a way still watchable. (All though the end of Last Crusade was shocking)

it is meant to be very very CGI laden and for many scenes Harrison ford has been digitally de-aged.

Did Ford injure himself during the filming of this one?

One positive in favour of this film is it’s directed by James Mangold who also did Logan.

I love the first one (how does Indiana know not to look at the Ark being opened though?)

2nd one I've never enjoyed, 3rd is okay and the best bits are Connery hamming it up. Crystal Skull is pish.

This looks pretty meh to me, hopefully I'll be proved wrong.

Well... the fact the Indiana Jones is irrelevant to the underlying plot doesn't really matter does it? We watch the film to watch Indiana Jones and his adventures. The underlying plot is just a device to keep that moving. In that film, Indiana Jones is the centre of the universe and everything else just revolves around it. It's not the end that matters. It's the journey.
