Some poor French penalties there Had a feeling Coman would miss. Poor fella never looked confident. Just run up, avoid eye contact with the keeper and just smash it, straight down the middle. Research has shown, this is sciccessful 9 times put of10

It would be rubbish if everyone played fair
It’s time England players dived more, feigned injury to waste time and played more mind games during penalties. Fair play wins nothing now.

That wasn't what I said.
The World Cup is what it is because different countries round the world have different football cultures. Think of Uruguqy in 1986. It woikd be dull if everything was homogenous

With South Americans you expect shithousery. That is what gives the World Cup a special vibe. You don't have to join them but you need to work out how to combat it

Lloris looked like Peter Shilton in Turin in 1990. The French would have had more chance if they'd subbed on Areola....like England should have bought on Dave Beasant 32 years ago
The same Areola who didn't get near 11 penalties a few weeks ago?

Wasn’t possible.

This is a myth somewhat perpetuated by Bobby Robson himself, but in Italia 90 you didn’t have the rest of the squad available to bring on as subs. You had to name five subs. Chris Woods was the sub goalkeeper. Beasant wasn’t a named sub. He could never have come on.

That well and truly lived up to it. Even my mrs, sitting through her first full match of actually paying attention to it, was even screaming at the telly.

So so so buzzing for Messi. Reigns handed over to Mbappe in perfect fashion. It doesn’t really matter what he does next, but I kind of hope he retires at the top. Although he’s never seemed hellbent on personal accolades, I imagine he wants to make sure he retires as the top Champions League goalscorer ever. So I imagine he will continue on past 2023, I just hope he does it at a top club rather than semi-retiring to the MLS.

Don't know if it's been said before, but that Scaloni is a winner. We need to get such people at West Ham.

Difference is Blackburns penalties were actually pretty good, some of Argentinas were poor. Lloris had the same "falling tree" dive Shilton did.

Overall, it was a terrific game, perhaps one of the best WC finals ever. Argentina probably edged it (for me) over the 120 minutes. I judge tournaments/games on the football, not politics. I have strong very negative views on Qatar and Argentina (as regimes) but, football wise, I have very much enjoyed this World Cup and Argentina are worthy winners.

Wouldn’t describe rolling around on the floor and berating the ref as “culture” myself.

Yet Mbappe screamed with laughter when Kane missed the second penalty. As Jamie Vardy once said "Chat sh*t, get banged".

I know you need a degree of arrogance to be a player of Mbappe's stature, but unless this defeat is going to bring him down a peg or two (I doubt it personally), his arrogance will end up have him being disliked by many............

.........Unless he's in your team.

One of his nicknames here is M'Boulard, which you could roughly translate by M'Arrogant.
