Would add RocknRolla, Gangster No.1.
Not sure of these "fit" the requirement, but Bullet Boy, Kidulthood & Adulthood, Wild Bill

Saw a stage version of this a few years ago, was at County Hall. Using the council chamber really added to the atmosphere with the courtroom scenes.DaveWHU1964 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 11:18 am There was a superb one on BBC2 the other day - well worth watching on the iplayer - Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution. A stellar cast of Marlene Dietrich, Charles Laughton and Tyrone Power all on top form. Man, could Christie write - you want a twist - well this one gives you about three blinders. Highly recommend.

Never tire of Hot Fuzz.last.caress wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 11:00 am Hot Fuzz (Wright, 2007)? Frenzy (Hitchcock, 1972)? Dead Man's Shoes (Meadows, 2004)? Blow-Up (Antonioni, 1966)? British crime films aren't massively my thing really.
Most of mine already mentioned but faves are Long Good Friday, Snatch and Ger Carter.
Will have to give Mcvicar another watch, haven't seen that for years.

Re: Best British Crime Films?
It’s currently on up town. Was going to get tickets for Mrs Dave and I as a Chrissy pressie for us both. Aimed to get them for this Friday but had covid over Christmas so couldn’t be sure I’d be 100% ok so didn’t get them in the end. Then we saw it was on telly. We watched it and loved it and as a result saved £130. Don’t call me cheapironsonthebrain wrote: ↑Tue Jan 03, 2023 3:04 pm Saw a stage version of this a few years ago, was at County Hall. A much better film than Legend but Tom Hardy’s performance as the Twins is electric.
Hardy > Kemp brothers
The Krays > Legend

Yep, Tom Hardy was excellent. The Kemp's Krays were more menacing I thought, I wouldn't though put either film in my top 10 or 15 British gangster movies, that's without the ROW gangster movies. I did enjoy both films in fairness to them.Chicken Run Supreme wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 8:37 am A much better film than Legend but Tom Hardy’s performance as the Twins is electric.

Re: Best British Crime Films?
I watched this again yesterday, and I'd forgotten just how good it is. Sort of 'Saturday Night and Sunday Morning' meets 'The Sweeney' an episode of which Diana Dors, as I recall, also starred in).

Re: Best British Crime Films?
Yep, as does Sexy Beast.
Those two are would be in my top 5 along with Layer Cake and Snatch.
Get Carter and the one with Bob Hoskins and the IRA were ones I saw recorded off the TV as a young kid in the 90s. Not seen them recently enough to see how they hold up now or also more importantly how they look in widescreen.

Re: Best British Crime Films?
Kill List was mentioned somewhere on KUMB not too long ago which made me rewatch it. Not your average crime film and I suppose the ending veers into a different genre. I enjoyed it a lot the first time but not sure it was worth watching again given I knew the ending.
