⚽ FAC3: Brentford 0-1 West Ham Utd (7/1/23)

Post by Shabu »

19:30 kick off at the Community Stadium.

Brentford have only lost three times since August 20th (plus a 1-1 draw v Gillingham in the League Cup which ended in a penalty loss). But when they do lose it's because they've let in 3, 3, 4 & 5 goals.

We really need to focus on our league status so how strong a team will Moyes put out this Saturday. A win will buoy confidence around the club but how much do we want to risk injuries when our Premier League status is under threat?

Anything can happen in the cup. I would love to see a couple of younger players get a run out.

Areola
Johnson Baptiste Aguerd Emerson
Coventry Downes
Lanzini Benrehma Scarles
Mubama

That's the team I don't I DON'T expect Moyes to put out but I would

I think the opposite, a week before our next game and we're desperate for the confidence a win would bring.

Full strength, go for the morale boost.

Personally, I think we need to put out a strong side and go for it in the hope it starts to build confidence. There’ll be less pressure than a league game so who knows, it could turn the tide a bit (he says …. hopefully…)

Anyone know if Luizão is proper training with us yet?

Be nice to have an option on the bench at CB.

I’d go somewhere in the middle. Leeds was an intense game so go for a rested team and hope they can produce. Gives Antonio a chance to stake a claim, to test Kehrer at right back and for Downes to get some minutes.

If Areola pulls of some wonder saves he might get in contention.

Another season of not winning a trophy is confirmed. (Not sure I include the ECL, feels a bit ‘Intertoto Cup’ to me).

It’ll be classic West Ham. Lose to them in the League when we needed the points and then beat this lot in a cup we're highly unlikely not going to win anyway.

I think we’ll win this. I fancy an ugly 2-1 win. Back to reality at Molineux next Saturday though.

Brentford will play a significantly weakened side. So will we
Who knows that the score will be.
Is their replays or straight to penalties?

Feel we need to play a fairly strong side to build continuity and build momentum.
