Thankfully he didn't by taking his eye off the ball and we got the job done in the end. Frank ****ing up his Team selection was our gain getting through to the next round. Moyes deserves credit for putting out a strong line-up, if not the performance.thewhirlwind wrote: ↑Sun Jan 08, 2023 5:33 pm There you go.... knock yourself out...

You must be gutted we won, bet you'd already drafted your "we can't even beat Brentford's youth team!" post.

Brentford aren't the only ones to make unnecessary changes. Apart from those involved in the carabao cup most teams aren't playing again for a week, so why the need to rest players?

Surprised not to see Areloa start.
A draw, then a win, both a bit scabby but positive results build confidence, I feel an M people song coming.

Three at the back yes, but that was a 3-4-3.Bubbles Fortuna wrote: ↑Sun Jan 08, 2023 2:30 pm Wolves and Leicester when we finished 6th were both with a back three I'm sure
The 3-5-2 with just two attackers can get in the bin.

As I've said, drop Soucek for one of Fornals of Benrahma behind the central two. We did it with Bowen and Lingard a couple of times.

I saw it as a 3412, but we're arguing semantics at this point.hawkins_hammer wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 10:59 am Three at the back yes, but that was a 3-4-3.

Both those performances had Masuaku at left wing back, as have all of our best performances with a 3/5 at the backBubbles Fortuna wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 11:58 am I saw it as a 3412, but we're arguing semantics at this point.

Whilst I would never begrudge any team & their supporters their season or two in the sun, don't they half get ideas above their station?

He wasn't on the bench was he? I assumed he must be injured, unless we're about to sell him and he would be cup tied (see also Dean Ashton who didn't play for Norwich in the FA Cup before he signed for us and - going back a long way - Alan Taylor and Rochdale I think it was)

This lot are the new Reading. They’ve got a bang average side that could easily get dragged into a relegation battle but seem to think they’re European challengers and that their squad of also rans is miles ahead of Brazilian, French, German and England internationals.
Just bizarre.

Fair play to them in that they have a good set up, manager and seem to do very well with transfers, and they are getting some good results, but i think they might struggle getting to europe, let alone stay in it.
Not that we can do any better on any of these subjects.

Wow the OV, I didn't see that coming. Brentford are the new Man City by the sound of things; just when did they become so arrogant?
They're not that special and if Ivan Toney gets a long ban I can see them easily slipping into trouble this season.
I take exception to this A team v B team thing. Firstly, I'd be fuming if we picked that many B team players and went out with a whimper. Secondly, we respected the F A Cup and played a strong side as every team should do in my opinion, but it's not as though Johnson and Emmerson play every week.
Had a soft spot for Brentford before, but now they need a dose of relegation worry to bring them back to reality.

It didn't take them long to get delusional about their relatively short successful run.

If they'd put out a full strength team they would have 'destroyed' us (he's not mad, he's disappointed, apparently).
