The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald is a great song about a terrible tragety. if you have not listened to it give it go.

He was family, sort of. His brother married my cousin, met him a couple of times. Nice bloke, unassuming and not slebby at all. Very sad news.

Very sad news about Andy Rourke. People often thought that The Smiths were maudlin but aIve always thought that his bouncy melodic bass lines along with Johnny Marr’s guitar definitely made them more uplifting pop songs.

Re: Today's celebrity death is...
Terribly sad news to awaken to. The Smiths were the soundtrack of my youth and Rourke the glue that held it all together. Too young at just 59.

In the week that celebrated 40 years since their first single, too.
Farewell Andy Rourke; your basslines were a completely integral part of the majesty of The Smiths music.
Sad, sad day.

Gutted. Had no idea he’d been ill and just seen it pop up as breaking news on Breakfast News.
Like many students in the 80’s my walls were adorned with Smiths posters. A huge part of my musical education, a sad day.
RIP Andy
