Emerson is better at every aspect of football other than crossing. But he is an attacking LB/LWB/LW/AML imo. And also his lack of getting back in a few games has cost us, that needs to be drilled out of him.

Cresswell is better in a back 3 because he can sit and read the game well. But is far too prone to disaster now, especially now he has lost pace. Great personality worth keeping though, needs to be a coach asap. And important part of the dressing room.

Mutual agreement with Union Berlin to wait for his move until the summer been struck in January, when we and several other struggling sides had shown interest in him. Fee around €15 to20m.

Union Berlin are already for an replacement
Could be a player we have come across several weeks ago. The pacy forward from Gent, Gift Orban.
Hopefully we still hold our interest. Judging by the links to forward players in the last few days it looks like we want to bring in more pace. Which could mean going back to a more counter attacking style. Becker fits that role who would be the perfect outlet in getting up the pitch quickly. Can see him doing well at LW for us or just behind the CF

As has been said maybe the other five defensive players on the pitch might have been able to cover for him in this scenarios where he hasn’t got the pace to get back?

He’s not great and he’s not the answer but he barely got a good run to find out. When he did string a few games together he was dropped quickly for one mistake, playing someone onside. Others can be routinely bad and never get dropped though, it’s a running theme with Moyes
He's not better than Cresswell at what we want and need, and that's what matters. He certainly wasn't dropped for one offside, it'll be the rap sheet of times he's not tracked, has lost a man, doesn't know where the runner is.

I suspect, overall, the defence would rather have Cresswell alongside them.

More importantly, neither are good enough, and then if you have one as back-up, the one who knows the club inside out, accepts the role, has the home-grown thing going etc etc is the one you keep.

I'd be interested to see if we could test Fiorentina's resolve by bidding for their centre back, Martinez Quatra.

Looks a good young player.

We'd then have three players called Lucas at the club. :smiler:

All joking aside, if he remains relatively fit and keeps his shooting boots, I reckon the 5 subs rule could really prolong Zlatan’s career at a relatively high level league.

If you only have 3 subs a game he may be a bit of a luxury, but with 5, you can almost afford to stick him on late for 10 minutes for his finishing ability. He would have to basically start training for that specific role though.

Almost like keeping someone like Payet available for free kicks in last five to ten min

PL2 player of the season, LW, looks rapid, 21 goals and 10 assists in 24 games this season

Using Lavia as the benchmark; he cost 10 million... feels like a proper red bull model signing

Is this coming from Ex?

Hes only just turned 19... but looks a proper talent

Youd imagine he would be the LW summer signing if that is the case... but a real future thinking signing

Seeing as the transfer window opens in less than a fortnight, can we change the name of the thread to "Summer Transfer Window 23" perchance..?

West Ham United are showing ‘very concrete’ interest in Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah this summer as he looks to leave the German side, according to BILD, who say the defender can leave the Bundesliga side if his €18m release clause is matched by any clubs.

They explain that Tah is ‘pushing for a change’ after eight years at Leverkusen and his ‘preferred destination’ would be a move to England.

I saw that yesterday

Be good to get our German man in the knows view on this

For those wanting more of a right sided competitor to Zouma to give more balance, he seems to fit that mould perfectly.

Hes been linked to a few big boys over the first half of 2023 but that could purely be agent driven
