Re: Unlikely music combos....
David Bowie and Bing Crosby doing Little Drummer Boy always seemed like the strangest combination for me.

Re: Unlikely music combos....
The most obvious one for me is Zeal & Ardour;
Basically, this project started on the internet as a bit of a curio, with solo artist Manuel Gagneux asking forum users what two genres he should mix together - Black Metal (an extreme sub genre, notorious for its unfortunate links to literal Nazism and Holocaust Denial) and Black “Chain Gang” hymns. It was a resounding success, and Z&A are now one of the best and most interesting metal bands around.
The track below is from the first album, which was a very rudimentary mix of the two, but is quite a stark representation of the sound in its infancy. I’d highly recommend checking them out further!

To be fair, this collaboration isn’t all that unexpected, but you’ve given me the excuse to post this song, and I’ll never not take it;

Sure was, mh; supported by James, too.
I had the concert on bootleg tape afterwards.
Here's a write up for you to reminisce further.
