Post by SoulCircus »

England women's U19s just defended 99 in their T20 semi-final against the Aussies to win by three runs. Cracking finish, they play India in the inaugural final on Sunday.

Yeah they looked dead and buried after that batting effort, but that is some fightback.

Or the Aussies just choked......

I recognise a few of our girls' names from the Hundred last year. Proof, I suppose, that that competition is having good effect on our young ladies.

T20 kicks off on the 10th. I quite enjoy watching the women's game at times.

Can't see past Australia winning it, I also think that we have either dropped off a bit or the other sides have picked up a bit, we seem to be lacking something last year.

Girls going great guns in their second game Vs Ireland.
Bowled them out for 105 with the 3 spinners picking up 7 wickets between them.
Currently 53-1 in reply off just 5 overs!

Tougher tests ahead, but a great start.

A 21 ball 50 for Alice Capsey equals the record quickest.

And now she's out.

I think Capsey is the most dynamic/gifted batter we have, she plays 360deg, she does though give her wicket away far too often when she doesn't need to. Hopefully as she matures she will get that sometimes surviving an over is more important than trying to score off every ball.

The lasses notched another win, India this time. Victory by 11 runs.
Brilliant bowling performance by Thakur at the start of the innings but Nat Sciver-Brunt and Amy Jones scored well to set an uncatchable target.

One more group game vs Pakistan and hopefully a semi-final place facing Sri Lanka.
The Aussies look unbeatable, but you never know.

With us beating India it is pretty nailed on unless something very strange happens a final between us and Australia. We will need to be perfect and Australia a bit off it for us to win it, but as you say Polaroid, you never know.

Great to Nat in such splendid form again. 3 player of match awards out of four. Shows what benefits a few months off can gives sportspeople. Nice also to se Dani "Ducky Egg" Wyatt getting a few runs too. All looking good ahead of the semis

India blew it big time. There are 3 elements to cricket, batting, bowling and fielding.

India were better in the first two but so much worse on the third and lost by 5 runs after a shocker.

At least shown Aus are beatable.

Certainly beatable on that performance Bendy.
Despite India's horrendous fielding I think 1 poor shot by Rodrigues (nicking an above head height delivery to keeper) and 1 very bad bit of luck for Kaur (bat stuck in pitch and was subsequently run out). Those two were taking the game away from the Aussies.
Still we've already beaten India, so should we get past South Africa I'm glad we'll take on the number 1 side in the final.

Lost by 6 runs. Fair play to the Saffers but should have won that really, losing 3 wickets in an over changed the game. Can only see a one-sided final as a result.

South African's generally do better when nothing is expected of them and their backs are against the wall...been a bit of controversy with this one over here so glad to see them do well (even if it is at England's expense)

Well done South Africa

If Katherine Sciver-Brunt wasn't the wife of a senior player would she still be playing? Bullying team mates and then bowling rubbish at the death.

Not covered herself in glory in probably her last game...........

I think the issue was having Heather Knight as captain, I think she has stayed too loyal. Needed a new face to move the game on.
