Re: Where are the points coming from?
We've all been here before. Trying to 2nd guess this stuff is a fool's errand and will end up with you tearing your hair out when we inevitable drop points in an easy home game.
Two things I will predict - at least 1 win against a current top 4 team and 1 defeat against a team below us.

Re: Where are the points coming from?
when i look at where we've got to get points, i feel pessimistic. when i look at the other clubs in the same plight i feel optimistic.
i just fear we'll come up short in a must win and need a snooker somewhere along the line, something we haven't been capable of in the league for well over a year now. i think moyes stays in the job until then, when the emergency button will be hit in the hope that it gets us an unexpected result.

Re: Where are the points coming from?
And that is me being generous. Of course we're capable of winning a lot more of those, but the way we've played this season, doesn't fill me with hope. Unless we go on a run, I think we're going in to last few games in relegation battle.Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 10:15 am Newcastle (A) 1

What I've noticed is that just about every one of you has predicted 3 points against Villa, despite their manager change and current good form.

Re: Where are the points coming from?
Some teams we just seem to do well against regardless of form or manager, Villa are one of them, I think.Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 2:42 pm What I've noticed is that just about every one of you has predicted 3 points against Villa, despite their manager change and current good form.
Re: Where are the points coming from?
It's still another 5 games before we face them, their form might be temporary.Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 2:42 pm What I've noticed is that just about every one of you has predicted 3 points against Villa, despite their manager change and current good form.

Re: Where are the points coming from?
It's largely the same group of players we've handled with ease since they got promoted. If people are worried about not getting a win against them then confidence really is shot.Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 2:42 pm What I've noticed is that just about every one of you has predicted 3 points against Villa, despite their manager change and current good form.

Leeds? or poss evertonKnighter10WHU wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 1:44 pm I think a better question is can you see 3 sides that are worse than us? I have Bournemouth & Southampton. Everton are now a massive unknown but I'd expect the new manager bump to just about see them above us. I think we're bang in trouble.

I do think we have far more room for improvement than teams around us though. Hopefully we build on the last few weeks and get a confidence boosting win against expectations soon.

Re: Where are the points coming from?
Really need to target a minimum of 4 home wins, and attack the weaker away fixtures.
if we can get 2 points from the next three games i'd be happy, but the forest game at the end of Feb is probably the most important game coming up. If we lose that i think we'll be in really big trouble (and Moyes' position may be untenable).

Re: Where are the points coming from?
We've had a 3 month slump. Players who looked a shadow of themselves are showing signs of life. A resuscitated West Ham can beat any side on its day. Winning begets winning, even if it's against weakened sides.

cause i make it december 2021.

Re: Where are the points coming from?
when was our last "day" in the league then, where we pulled out a win against a side we shouldn't have been expected to beat?

19 + 18 = 37. TigggghhhhtBurnley Hammer wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 10:15 am Going back a decade, 38 points has been enough to avoid relegation. We currently have 18.
Can we find 20 points from this lot? That's 6 wins and 2 draws, or 5 wins and 5 draws.

That is what I expect - but we might get a couple of unexpected results - e.g. a win at fulham palace or Brentford - especially if the defence stays tight with Aguerd back and Ings shows poaching instincts.

Re: Where are the points coming from?
3 months is being very kind. Check our league results for the whole of 2022. Convert the points won in those games to how they would average out over a season and they show relegation form. I am afraid our malaise is much more than a 3 month slump. In my eyes it has been looking like a terminal decline in health for several months now.

In fairness, I think we would have beaten both Chelsea and Arsenal towards the end of last season if we didn't rest player's for EuropeKermit wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 4:47 pm 3 months is being very kind.
