Absolutely. I think it could work quite well. Especially in a game like this. I thought Fulham did well against them with this sort of method. They were quite compact, forcing Chelsea to go wide and do very little and then Fulham would hit by playing through the lines with a bit of speed and direct running. We have the tools to play that way and think it would work.

I think we could benefit from direct running from Bowen and Antonio. With Benrahma and Scamacca to come on later. Would get Ings starting.
I am liking that team a lot :scarfer:

This will be the 3rd home game I've missed this season and have to add that I have always listed my ticket for any fellow Hammers that can't normally get tickets. My absences have been health (Covid) and on this occasion, too early to make it feasable. Strangly enough, previous tickets have not been taken but this time my ticket sold literally minutes after listing!!! Here's hoping that I'll regret not making it and we'll get a hard fought 1 nil or 2 - 1. COYI :crest:

They'll must start winning, or plenty of their lot will have to find other teams come summer.
Not for me. Newcastle at St James was a tougher test I think.

That being said, it does depend on which of Chelsea’s four teams shows up!

Don't know why, but can only see us winning this one. Early kick off, need a result to really turn the tide, have a decent record against Chelsea at home recently especially under Moyes.

The only thing that worries me is that it surely can only go on so long before they finally click under Potter.

Gonna be really tough game imo.
Guess Felix will be back as a 10 so midfield 3 will offer more quality in possesion than Newcastles did. Tough afternoon for Rice/Paqueta in a 2 vs 3.
Might be that it takes a big longer to click with Fernandez and Felix not played much and maybe some space to counter.

Wonder also if they will have an eye on the Dortmund game in regards to rotation.

Just need to make sure we don't give up silly chances and give them something to worry about at the other end. Don't sit so deep that it's a defence vs attack training match.

I feel our team selection may be influenced by injuries for this one.

Several players seemed to take knocks v Newcastle.

The only games we've lost since the World Cup are the games Cresswell has started.

Don't start Cresswell.

Got to start on the front foot. Get in their faces. They're vulnerable. Please no sitting back playing for the point. :scarfer:

Chelsea are not playing that badly, they are creating chances and just not scoring, something about Potter sides that..

Hopefully the continue to not take their chances come Saturday.

If all fit I think in fairness to the team you start the same 11, they didn't do too bad did they.

Our big issue this season is a lack of pace at both ends of the pitch. We can't go as attacking as we'd like as we have no recovery pace. Aguerd and Emerson have been a big help here.

Go back a month and Wilson wins the game for Newcastle. Now Aguerd stops him.

In the Summer I'd be buying a rapid right back and winger as a priority. Then maybe even some pace at CDM depending on Rice.

A truly horrible club. The Man Utd of the south. Just throw pound after pound after pound at anything and everything in the hope that it sticks.

I'd take great delight in smashing this lot, but they have bought some real quality of late. Will be another tough one.

Same team as at Newcastle please Dave (injuries pending) and let's see what happens :hammb:

Typical that we play these just as they start to get some key individuals back.

If James & Chilwell are fit to start, we’re in for a tough one. I also believe Felix is back, who looked very impressive on his debut.

We are in for a tough one regardless of who plays for them. Chelsea will go into this as favourites, and rightly so. Both sides confidence is vulnerable at the moment and form up and down for both sides. I hope for a win, but expect a draw.
