Re: West Ham United v Chelsea : match thread
Heads up
As usual if they're not on strike, there are no trains between Shenfield and Liverpool St on Greater Anglia and the Elizabeth line this weekend for engineering works.
Same for the Forest game
You can't beat these world class transport links!!!

Re: West Ham United v Chelsea : match thread
Good signs in the last few games that some players are getting into form and things are starting to click. Emerson, Paqueta, Coufal particularly have improved loads. Rice and Aguerd have been imperious in the last few games. Starting to think we can beat teams like Chelsea again and Moyes may just have ridden out the storm!

Re: West Ham United v Chelsea : match thread
Same 11 as last game would be good except Fornals for Benrahma and Johnson for Kehrer if he’s injured.
Just hoping Moyes ignores the voice in his head telling him to start Soucek

we're not playing Chelsea we're playing Graham Bloody Potter
have we beaten him at all ?
have we beaten him at all ?

I think there is a difference between being defensive and being passive.
We have been too passive this season up until recently. OK we might let Chelsea have the ball, but we shouldn't let them have am easy time off it.
We have enough quality and commitment on the bench that we can use 5 subs if we really terrorise them

Yep he loves it when we sit off and let his team play.Cuenca 'ammer wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 12:35 pm we're not playing Chelsea we're playing Graham Bloody Potter

Re: West Ham United v Chelsea : match thread
I hope we play how we did at Newcastle. Excluding any injuries of course. Johnson is good at RCB if Kehrer is out.
But Moyes 100% of the time goes ultra defensive and we fail to win. If he reverts to type, expect to see Soucek. Then we get dominated by a average Chelsea team.
Or maybe for once he sticks with what works for us, rather than focusing on how the opponents play. Then we have a chance to beat them.

We're going to batter these fools like cod on a Friday chippy tea. 2-0 to us.

Re: West Ham United v Chelsea : match thread
Fulham showed the template to beat Chelsea on Friday... They showed their players no respect, were first to every ball & didn't give the Chelsea team time on the ball anywhere on the pitch.
We don't play like that though...
They have some lightening quick players & if we invite them onto us we'll be slaughtered...

5 at the back & respect the point for me. Similar to the Newcastle game.
If we go too offensive early, they will pick us apart

Re: West Ham United v Chelsea : match thread
Considering West Ham are usually the kiss of death for many an under pressure manager, I wouldn't be surprised if we won this, and that was that for Potters time at Chelsea.

We pressed pretty well against Newcastle I thought but yes we need to be careful especially with the Chernobyl Traore!DublinDave wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 1:59 pm Fulham showed the template to beat Chelsea on Friday... I would be more than a little surprised if he did anything different. First rule is don't change a team in form.I am Legend wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 1:15 pm I hope we play how we did at Newcastle. Excluding any injuries of course. Johnson is good at RCB if Kehrer is out.

I hope Kehrer is fit as he is key to being more aggressive in terms of passing out from the back.

Hopefully we'll go behind early on, thereby freeing us up to play the way we're capable of playing.

Re: West Ham United v Chelsea : match thread
Ultra defensive? Reverts to type? Playing Soucek? I personally do not understand these tropes. Its a lazy and 'social media popular' accusation. Its like 'Moyesball' or 'dinosaur' what the f**k is that apart from a derogatory term to hit Moyes with. I really don't see it. Yes he can be a tad pragmatic, but generally I find his football philosophy better than just OK. Sure, many results and some performances are poor, but never in a million years is he an Allardyce, Pulis or Dyche etc. Indeed, many times this season I have been thoroughly entertained even though we have lost. I have seen all the Managers from Greenwood to Moyes and our 'style' of play in in all its form and to be honest (IMHO) he is a better Manager than most.I am Legend wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 1:15 pm I hope we play how we did at Newcastle. I find myself perhaps overly defending him because of the anti S**t that is thrown his way. Is he a super great Manager - No. But he is the best we have had in donkey's years.

I can see us being at bare bones once we start playing twice a week again.

What the f**k is that apart from a derogatory term to hit those that see it differently to how you do
