We have the 2nd oldest squad (just behind Fulham) and the oldest average starting 11 in the league. Poor investment has let our core team all reach 30 and as said this season (arguably last) was one too many for Antonio he just doesn't have it in him, it is no big shame he gave us some great years and performances.

A combination of buying in positions we don't need and just a terrible track record of making transfers work (how many strikers? ) has led us to this..

Relegation might just be what we need, a good reset from top (the top) to bottom.

I doubt we would return to the top flight in my lifetime, if ever.

Don't underestimate how big a drag on enthusiasm a two thirds empty stadium will be on the players.

Agree that Pinky, I have seen a reset with relegation is what is required all over the place - I think that is the worst thing that could happen to a club like us now. Football has changed now for clubs like us and that are set up for PL football. Nothing can really change with us until the board go, until then, we need to stick in the PL and see what new owners can do when they come in.

Glad the reporter brought it up to Downes.
not digging our support out but there was nowhere near 3000 left at the end

Yeah you’d have to be nuts to stay til the end of that - no effort from the players so they certainly aren’t getting any effort from me and thousands of others to stay til the end.

EastleighHammer16 wrote: Mon Feb 20, 2023 8:06 am I have to be honest, i don't get this whole "We were really good first half" that people are saying. Defensively, sure we were really good (as we have been basically all season) but i would expect that to be the case when we are playing a back 5 with 3 defensive midfielders. We offered no goal threat. Bowen had a shot after about 30 seconds and that was about it for the first half.
David Moyes masterclass.

Firstly, that was a very, very dour game of football. Both sides were poor. Secondly, despite our defensive lapses, we still scored 0.

Our inability to score will be our demise. If you have the capability and threat to score 2 or 3 you can afford a defensive lapse or two.

Reset without relegation please. Like Pinky said, I'll be in the ground before we come back up.

So we'd lose 1-0 then.

there was a point in the second half when the cameras went to moyes discussing tactics with warburton. two old "£$%^ and I thought no wonder these players have no life in them. how can they inspire you when things are going wrong.

it is too late to sack moyes as who would we get in ? benitez , nunez no thanks. carrick at boro may be ready in a year or two to come home but he isnt leaving now to go down with us.

At the stage where there's very little sense in being picky over who comes in.

Just stick Noble and Nolan in, cannot be any worse and would be legendary if they pull it together and got us midtable.. We have to do something though.. it is horrible to watch us sink into the abyss whilst the manager stands there and states 'this is fine'

Maybe 500 stayed to the end.
Declan led the players over but some needed encouraging to come. He called Benrama back as he was heading for the tunnel.
Moyes of course nowhere to be seen.

That performance was utterly abysmal. I don't see how anyone can call it any different. If you think, like Pinky, that relegation might not be a one year experience (and it bothers you) then we have to approach games in an entirely different way (IMO).

Colours never run wrote: Mon Feb 20, 2023 12:17 am No, Benrahma should have started (or other Attacker sat on the bench). Not wait until they score 1st to bring ours on after Spurs first Sub Son scored immediately after Benrahma came on for their second. By then it was all far too little, too late, again.
And that, once again, should be enough to hang Moyes with

Mr Predictable fails again
