Dickie Davies
Just spotted this - so very sad. A staple of Saturday afternoons in the 70s and 80s. God bless.

Re: Dickie Davies
Only just seen this, sad news indeed.
Such fond childhood memories of World of Sport with its lumberjack competitions, ITV 7 and the likes of Kendo Nagasaki, Jackie Pallo & Big Daddy wrestling. And all with the suave and always professional Dickie Davies at the helm.
RIP

Me too mate.
A somewhat bizarre clip from the day West ham United played Fulham in the FA Cup Final.

Re: Dickie Davies
RIP legend. He won't mind me posting this, but whenever I see his name I can help but think back to Chris Tarrant's early morning radio show on Capital Radio, when HD had a phone in quiz slot. Phone in guests were invited to participate in return for Tarrant's clues to guess the name of famous TV personality. On one occasion, the name of the personality was former Motor racing commentator, Murray Walker. One girl phoning in from Essex asked Chris Tarrant for another clue and Tarrant said, erm.. You can suck these. Al.ost without any hesitation at all, the girl said rather excitedly Oh, I know, Dickie Davis

Am I weird in that the first thought in my head on seeing this tweet was wondering how much his dogs are going to miss him?

Re: Dickie Davies
so only HALF my memory failed..
had talkSPORT on yesterday and that very part of it came on.....
they were talking about the wrestling and asking each other to name other wrestlers apart from Jackie Pallo....
as the names came tumbling out I had to smile.
my dear old dad must have had the WORST sense of humour EVER.
the only thing he REALLY laughed at were Tom and Jerry and the Saturday afternoon wrestling..I mean literally tears would be streaming down his face and he would need a handkerchief to wipe them away. the old dears at ringside amused him the most, there would be some old biddy who would stick McManus or Pallo with their umbrellas or smash them with their handbags, and at times I was concerned that he would stop breathing as he couldn't catch his breath for laughing so much.
oh maybe Benny Hill would amuse him but not as much as the aforementioned....
