World Superbikes kick off the season in a matter of hours

https://www.worldsbk.com/en/news/2023/O ... 0favourite

Will the trio of Bautista, Razgatlioglu and Rea be the ones all eyes are on throughout the season?
Bautista and Rea are set to remain in WSBK. Razgatlioglu though has one eye on Morbidelli's seat at the factory team in MotoGP...

Sadly I think Toprak might struggle in MotoGP as did people like Toseland, Bayliss, Edwards. Nothing to do with ability just that Superbikes are production based as opposed to prototypes and the riding style is different and something learnt by the riders as they progress through Moto3 and Moto2. Anyway, off on a day trip to the Southern 100 in July and thoroughly looking forward to it. Hopefully a better time than my TT trip in 2018 when the return plane due to take off at 2105 got grounded due to damage from a bird strike and we all had to crash out on the floor in Ronaldsway airport and eventually took off at 0715 the next morning

I thought all road racing on the island of Ireland had been cancelled this year because of insurance issues or is that a Facebook hoax?

Toprak though is special, different gravy that those guys. He also had the opportunity to spend a few laps on proper MotoGP bikes.

Interestingly, for now, the noises coming out of Factory Yamaha is that they're sniffing at Lopez in Moto2.
Toprak wants top big and top dollar. He is much closer to that at Yamaha in WSBK than in MotoGP.
He'd rather be multiple World Champion than multiple Grand Prix winner.
I believe that is the biggest reason he will not join the top class.

Bautista starting this season 10/10

If Ducati can replicate their success in WSBK & MotoGP this season...

A sport I greatly admire but cannot watch. Just makes me feel unbearably anxious.

It has though things may change given how much say the NW200 supposedly generates for the NI economy. Fortunately the Isle Of Man Govt underwrite the racing on their isle so TT, Classic, PreTT and Southern 100 not affected.

MM93 is working very hard to have a fan base that will lift him above his current peers, and hopefully make a name for him somewhere between his current status and Rossi's.

Says a lot about him that he still hasn't been able to come close to VR46, even when he has more or less won every world championship when close to being fit.

Last full day testing before curtain falls, yesterday.

After six days of testing, Valencia, Sepang and Portimao, no-one is close to the Ducatis....
This season they could massacre the field.

Yes, it was exciting to watch. Feels too dangerous though. Poor Bastianini was very unfortunate to be taken out by Marini who was rushing. Too much rush, to much elbows.

Bastianini was Pecco's most likely rival before the season kicked off. Now he is out for at least two weekends.

Also poor Pol Espargaro... Lungs collapsed, back hurt and might be needing to operate on his jaws...

How MM93 was not given a race ban after that dangerous and reckless attempt at overtaking, only the Ezpeleta family and Dorna knows...

Great to see Pecco remaining calm, Top Gun taking another step and the KTMs hanging on.
Also nice to see the sympathetic Marquez brother fighting in the top 8

Feel for poor Olivera and Martin, just as I did for Bestia on saturday.

I see that Dorna has blocked the videos.
They are available, for free, on their YouTube channel, so God knows why they bother with this :thdn:

Watched it last night, great racing.

Every single time I watch a Moto GP race, being a person that has never rode a motorbike, my primary thought is nutters.

Bravest of the brave sports.

Rins claims the win in the race at COTA, after seeing almost 1/3rd of the field miss out due to injuries and crashes, most spectacularly Bagnaia crashing out of the lead. His second DNF in a row and another failure to claim the top spot that is rightfully his as he had the speed all weekend.

This season is really his to throw away

Must also mention Jake Dixon crashing during the warm-up lap in Moto2....
