⚽ FAC5: Manchester Utd 3-1 West Ham Utd
19:45 kick off at Old Trafford on Wednesday March 1st
Man Utd on their 3rd big game out of four big games in four different competitions.
On Thursday they beat Barcelona in the Europa Cup. Tomorrow they play Newcastle in the League Cup Final. Then us on Wednesday & an important clash with Liverpool on Sunday in the Premier League.
We've played them 13 times in the FA Cup, winning 4, losing 6 & drawing 3. However it's been 7 games since we beat them, a 1-0 away win back in 2001 when Di Canio scored the winner. Will another Italian serve up a similar scenario on Wednesday.
This game will be our first in a run of 6 games in 19 days so it's good that we have an relatively injury free squad to choose from.
I reckon the team will look like this....
Areola
Coufal Kehrer Aguerd Emerson
Soucek Rice
Paqueta
Bowen Scamacca Benrahma
Personally I'm hoping we see Scamacca get at least a half & some more action for Lanzini & Fornals.
It's going to be a draw, 2-2. I have no idea if there's a replay or penalties. But if it's the latter, we'll win.

Moyes has an excellent chance to banish the memories of last week, the form we’ve been in up to 5 games ago, and send a team out to attack in numbers when we get the opportunity and get a famous result.
It’s never too late to change, let’s be positive, up for it, and give everyone at the club a huge statement win.

No replays?
May as well go for it from the off.

My record is pretty even. About 2 wins, 2 losses, 2 draws.DublinDave wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 8:18 pm Seeing as Shabs has started the match thread, we're doomed, doomed I tells ya...

Obviously very unlikely we win this but if we did, this cup is wide open. Just City and Spurs left that you'd want to avoid.

I'd expect Moyes to do a bit of shuffling for this one, whilst I also expect them to do something similar, having probably won the league Cup beforehand.
Thought we were unlucky to lose up there in the league.

I hope it’s only one or two changes (not including Areola). Coming off a Cup final tomorrow they will be susceptible.

Rashford plays, we lose.
Maguire plays, we win.

Re: Manchester Utd v West Ham United - FA Cup 5th Round
I expect Moyes to revert to 5 at the back given its away at a big 6 side, with that in mind I’d go:
——————Areola
——-Kehrer—Oggy—Aguerd
Johnson—Rice—Paqueta—Emerson
-Bowen——Lanzini——-Fornals
——————-Antonio
*Moyes will start Soucek over Lanzini
Benny to come off the bench on around 60 minutes, as he seems to struggle to make an impact when starting against better teams.
Sadly despite Man U’s fixture pile up, I still think our chances are very slim.
