Much better.
Not comparable.
Intertoto had three winners and no group stage. Three silly ties pretty much all against the sort of sides you'd expect to make up a Conference group stage now.
Roma are a bigger and more successful club than we are. Look how excited their fans were to win this last season.

Seems to me essentially the replacement for the Cup Winner's Cup. UEFA Cup was always harder to win and often cup winners would be in the European Cup.
Its an important competition and its prestige will grow with time.
It's a lot better than the Inter toto Cup,but not has good has the CWC imo.
UEFA Cup was a difficult one to win back in the day.I know a few may think I am crazy, but I think at times, it was has difficult to win has the old European Cup.

To all these people calling them a pub team please go and crawl back into your little hole
OK it was not a thrilling performance but it was an away win in a knock out tie in Europe and means we should make the quarter finals.... How many times can we say that after a game in our history.
All you are trying to do is belittle any achievement, I'm sure if mmwe win it you will call it a micky mouse cup.... Try and enjoy the moment and life you miserable buggers
What a charming way to talk to your fellow Hammers. Everyone has the right to an opinion, even if it's not the same as yours.
I didn't see the match but it sounds as though we made hard work of it.
However, a wins a win and we should have no problem getting to the quarter finals now.
Bit slow in the first 30, then improved considerably, game over by 50.
Should be in the last 8 now. Next week should be a nice game and an opportunity for a few to get some good time in a relatively pressure free environment.

Is the conference trophy better or worse than the inter toto cup or about the same?
Much bigger than the Inter Toto.
It’s a proper season-long competition.
Similar standard to the old Cup Winners Cup I’d suggest. That was considered superior to the UEFA cup but was easier to win - one fewer round and cup winners not always one of the best teams in a country whereas UEFA cup was 2nd, 3rd, 4th in league.
I think the difference now is that season by season the level of quality of the latter stages of the UEFA and CWC could change. Now you've got a very clear distinction between 3 tiers.
Doesn't really matter but does mean you can't really compare one era to the other.

The old cupwinners cup was always the second rated euro competition. It was only devalued and eventually discontinued when the european cup became the champions league and they started letting in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the league into it. As most of the time the cup winners would finish in the top 4 and so qualify for the CL it didn't really make sense to continue a 'cup winners' competition.

The idea that anyone would turn their nose up at us winning a European trophy cos it wasn’t big enough is truly bizarre.
Something is better than nothing, what a feeling it would be to see us lift a trophy

It surely is. Just to qualify was some going because this season the likes of Villa, Leicester, Newcastle and Brighton are above us.

We're gunna need to improve A LOT to win this competition. Or get favourable draws next Friday. If we play like we did tonight against any of the better teams in this competition we will be out.
