1923
haven't seen anything posted about this show.
another prequel to Yellowstone.
not bad, but Harrison Ford trying too hard NOT to be Harrison Ford and quite why Helen Mirren can't be English and has to mumble her way through an Irish accent I'm not sure.
as usual great scenery apart from the two stars the rest of the cast is pretty unknown to me.
Jerome Flynn but with an awful Scottish accent is good. Brian Geraghty whose face you might recognise from Chigaco PD and The Alienist.
it does a good job of showing how the government really tried to strip the native Americans of dignity. in fact I think in one quote one of the nuns tells the poor girl that it's her job to completely take her identity away and make her an American. of course we now see especially with Canada, that this was rife throughout that time.
not imvho anywhere near as good as 1883 but it has it's moments.

Re: 1923
I preferred 1883 overall.
There is room for improvement with 1923 and certainly there were multiple loose ends at the end of first series.
Helen Mirren and Jerome Flynn portray their roles with very dodgy accents it had to be said but I can cope with that.
Some of the scenes at the Indian school are absolutely brutal.
I’d give it a 7/10 compared to 1883’s 9/10

I thought it was going to be about the Jack Dempsey v Luis Firpo fight when Dempsey fell out of the ring in the first few round of the fight only to be helped back into the ring by the press.kenthammer wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 6:59 pm Thought it was gonna be about the cup final and who went

Loved 1883 , the photography was breathtaking , the performances excellent especially from old stalwart , Sam Elliot and young Isabel May as Elsa Dutton . That voice of hers was like silk against your skin , just beautiful .
I've watched 2 episodes of Yellowstone but I'm not really enjoying it as much as the prequels - I do enjoy a good Western .

and ANYTHING with Sam Elliot in it is great imvho..he's been in some fantastic westerns......but the entire cast was 100%
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, obviously being man and wife in real life, had "REAL" chemistry...
couldn't find ANY fault with much if it at all to be honest..
a bit of "the old time" western atmosphere was brilliant and half of the ending I could project but the other..
gobsmacked..
haven't done Yellowstone at all yet...
so many series to watch and so little time....
as you love a good western..try googling The Sacketts..
Sam Elliot
Tom Selleck
Jeff Osterhage
Glenn Ford..
a DEFINITE old time western..
and of course from the best of the old time western authors, Louis L'Amour....
broadcast in 1979 so they're all in their prime..
from our mates over at Wiki...
The Sacketts is a 1979 American made-for-television Western film directed by Robert Totten and starring Sam Elliott, Tom Selleck, Jeff Osterhage, and Glenn Ford. Based on the novels The Daybreakers (1960) and Sackett (1961) by Louis L'Amour, the film recounts the story of the Sackett brothers in 1869 who leave their Tennessee home and start a new life together in Santa Fe.[1]

A perfect analogy there with Isabel May’s voice And Sam Elliot was immense, fully deserved of his Golden Globe

Stick with it TOMoS, it’s more soap opera than the prequels but it still has that beautiful Wyoming backdrop and the character development is done very well. Rip is my favourite
