Ivan Toney

I thought Toney has pleaded guilty to betting against the rules.

Rewarded with a call up for England.

Funny old game.

It’s pretty disgraceful. Standards have really fallen.

And they go on about how principled Southgate is!

Didn't Walker have a question mark over him too?

He hasn't been rewarded for being found guilty of breaking the rules by betting

He has been rewarded for his performances on the football pitch

Rightfully so...

of more concern to me if how McGuire* and Philips still get in the squad despite not featuring much for their respective teams..Mount too for that matter...

and I thought Gareth was going to pick "in form players."

hard to be "in form" when you're not playing...

*and I know McGuire has not really let the national team down

People make mistakes? how is it disgraceful? We've done it with plenty of players over the years who have disgraced themselves England and West Ham.

Paolo Di Canio? Bet you cheered him on.

I agree in principle about picking players on form. But you can't change your team completely every international break based on it, it doesn't work like that. Hence why Kane got picked even though his Spurs form was not great, form is temporary and class is permanent and all that.

He's pleaded guilty to an football offence which is likely to carry a ban.

Walker is being investigated over a criminal offence but not charged.

There is a difference to the cases.

I believe Walker should be available if feels he is not guilty and not on remand, Tomey has pleaded guilty to a football offence that's punishable.

People could read into it that it's ok to bet on games, I'll still get picked for England.

Di Canio never played for Everton.

Couldn't care less about his gambling, Infact I don't see a problem with it at all.

Hope he scores some important goals for us at the Euros .

He was who we should have signed this summer .

What is Walker being investigated for (I honestly have no idea)?

Toney hasn't been banned though yet?

He missed the World Cup because he bet on games... I think the message has been delivered loud and clear on that count.

We've had players represent England so much worse.

I think a lot of people have the misconception that Toney was gambling on his own games which could be linked to throwing the game etc - but that isn’t the case.

Toney is available for his club ergo available for England.
He's in form unlike some of Gareth's picks.
Good luck to him.

Players in England's top eight tiers are banned from betting on football but Ladbrokes is an FA partner and 10 Premier League clubs have betting firms as shirt sponsors.

not sure it matters WHICH team he bet on, he broke the rules.....

Why on earth would Toney have signed for us? And why would Brentford sell him? I don’t think he’d have been lured in by the chance to play in the Conference League.

On form Toney deserves to be in the squad. If we’re going by misdemeanours, then a host of professional footballers aren’t getting near that squad.

Quite why Maguire and Phillips are in that squad is the one I can’t fathom. I can kind of understand Gallagher.

It must be **** to be Ben White. Not picked and he has to play for Arsenal.

Bloody hell.

We watch a sport in which a 20 year old earns in a week what a nurse earns in a year.

Where a player who spends the majority of time not playing earns more in a year than most do in a life.

We just watched a World Cup built on the bodies of thousands of modern day slaves.

Let's stop pretending to be outraged over this petty situation. Footballs soul has long since been bought.

Yeah… but seriously who cares enough to be ‘disgraced’ by it.

Really disappointed by some of these comments tonight.

“I only watched a few indecent images, not all of them. Can I go back and work at the school.”

The man should be suspended, especially after admitting to some of the charges. There is a clear conflict of interest between betting on a football match and being a professional footballer. And I should add, 232 charges. It’s not just a wait and see anymore.
