Solved: Site has become very slow for me

Post by bonzosbeard »

Mod edit: FIX HERE: viewtopic.php?p=6756783#p6756783

***

In the last week I have noticed I have to wait several seconds for pages to download or even things i have typed to catch up.

I thought it was maybe the wifi i was usung while awY but still like it now home.

Other sites seem to work ok so i think its limited to here, but suprised no one else has reported so maybe it is an issue with my phone.

After speaking to the wife I have closed my shortcut and access the site from the browser which has fixed my problem.

There is a new issue related to the video ad loading, which is causing the site to lock until the process completes (up to 10/15 seconds).

It is being investigated. :newthumb:

Slow as old boots for me for about the last week.
I'm not sure why the thread title says solved.
I've typed all this on my phone and it took an age before the letters appeared on my screen.
Don't the usual with cache/cookies and it only on this site.
Browser is Chrome

The site has become almost impossible to use for me due to the problems with speed, both on mobile or laptop
When I type i typically have to wait for what I type to appear and then posting anything takes ages

it is a recent development and i assume linked to the video ads that are always playing

Hopelessly slow when using the phone. Pages take ages to load nowadays.

Don't know what causes it but it certainly isn't solved.

Oh, and it seems I can't submit this message either :thdn:

The issue is with our dev team, but tests suggest it is exclusive to Chrome.

If it's a huge issue for you, I suggest changing to Firefox etc until a fix is discovered.

I have downloaded Firefox and is working for me.

Up until now the typing has played catch up and takes forever. To the point where I wouldn't post. I also ended up posting in wrong threads as I was clicking ahead of myself.

Firefox has put it back to how it used to work for me.

I've switched to something called MI browser which was pre loaded on my phone and all seems fine there.

On Chrome, it is deceptive; it loads up the first page/thread I select, no problem, but if I then navigate around the site, it often takes a second or two to catch up.

The only benefit is the slight cheer i get to see that i have typed a sentence correctly, when it finally loads up on the screen about a second after my fingers have left the keyboard.

I really hope you are not using IE.. It has been retired and it no longer safe.

I meant Microsfot Edge not Explorer
It was working a lot better on Edge than Chrome, but now seems to have got much slower on that as well

For me, the site has recently become painfully slow on Apple’s Safari browser on an iPad Pro.

The biggest issue is trying to type text. There is a several second lag between typing and the letters appearing. Clicking on a thread, it takes an age to load.

Is it just me?
