Posters you remember / miss

Anything goes in The Snug, General Discussion's rebellious little brother. An off-topic den of iniquity where any subject not covered elsewhere may be discussed. Well, anything except golf, Star Wars and Arsenal.

I seem to remember he flounced off in style by crayoning all over the gaff one afternoon, despite having the opposite view point on virtually everything I quite liked the old trot......

He didn't exactly 'flounce off' irc but conducted a 'flaming' attack on the site. I was still in touch with him at that point (lost touch since) and he told me he was going to do it. I told him he'd just get banned and he said he knew that. He was a good sort and not crazy at all, but I could never really reciprocate his committed, doctrinaire Communism.

Bloke caused the mods loads of unnecessary work just because there were people on the forum who held different political views to himself. Pretty sure he referred to me as a "fascist" because we managed to f*** him off. Which was nice.

Wasn't it ESM who became a published author and deserted us plebs or was that another verbose poster?

From memory that poster was an author who wrote under the pen name Tom Cain. Great novel from that late 90s called The Accident Man - a thriller.

I only remember all this as my brother is also called Tom Cain albeit different spelling…

A quick Wikipedia check shows the authors real name and that they were having a sex change.

They’ve had a busy few years so you can see why she isn’t logged on here debating whether Moyes should get sacked!

There was a Wilf or Wilfie, blazed briefly across here a few years back, lingered in the Music, Film & TV section a lot but had a brilliant writing style and turn of phrase which always brought a smile.

For some reason I've associated him with living in the Scottish Highlands or Lewis or somewhere equally remote, but I may have got muddled. Wish him well wherever he is.

Disagreed with him fairly often in later times but always had a soft spot for ii, when he was along with the likes of me, part of the beleaguered Allardyce Defence League.🙂

I was wondering about Fionn the other week - as someone said earlier , he took a bad beating a few years back. He came back on here after that but haven’t seen him around for a long time. Always came across as a nice guy.

Scouse Hammerette was a nice lady.

He was one of the best posters on here.

Used to have a little Lego man as his avatar… from memory he wrote that’d been laid into with a metal bar. Sounded like it was pretty serious.
