The day of the comebacks. Selby needing just 1 more frame leading 16-10.

Allen has won the next 5 to pull it back to 16-15.

Did anyone else notice Allen's very odd 'snooker' in that 16-14 frame (IIRC) that let Selby off the hook and wonder, like me, why the commentary team fell silent?

Brecel vs Selby. Could be a classic. (If the Belgian wunderkind wins, that is.)

The same could be said for Ronnie, but look what he's achieved over the years!

For the sake of snooker as a spectator sport, Brecel needs to win this. Don't get me wrong, Selby has an unbelievable all round game and if you're on a table playing that type of snooker, it's fine, but to sit there watching it gets mind numbingly boring after a while.

Another vote for Brecel here. Selby knows his craft obviously with 4 titles in the bag already but he is hard work to watch and just sucks the fun out of snooker.
Be good to see a mainland Europe winner too.

Much as like Brecal..always have to support the Englishman/Brit in competitions,so Selby for me...

3-1 Belgium at moment...should be 4-0, Brecal missed a sitter of a red..

Should be a good final...2 extremes of style of play, hope it stays close, think will do.

Of course, the same SHOULD be said about Ronnie. That's why he 'only' won 7 world championships instead of 10+.

Cue ball control and shot selection of Ronnie is miles ahead of Brecel by the way. To end any possible parallels. 😉

I know people don't like Selby. But the guy is pure class. Massive frame in the 2nd session. Big frame for Selby.

Makes a maximum, 147. Congratulations Mark :scarfer:

Hat’s off to Selby. First ever maximum in the final, it doesn’t get much better than that.
Still on Team Brecel but he’s gonna have to dig in for the long haul, Selby is not my cup of tea but he’s as tough as they come.

Brecel does take on risky pots and Selby will hoover up any errors.

Been watching Snooker since I was 4. Going into the beginning of last year somehow, amazing as it may seem, I had never witnessed a 147 in live play.

I have now seen 5. :scarfer:

Williams
Murphy

Me neither - still!

I've watched most of the final today and nipped out for a bath - right before Selby's maximum.

Also watched the Thornburn match live when he did it for the first time 40 years ago but missed that particular frame as well. :angryred:
