Greg Campbell, anyone?

I'm re-reading Robert Banks' An Irrational Hatred Of Luton at the moment; it's 1985 and we have just signed Frank McAvennie from St Mirren. Banks notes:

We had played at Crystal Palace earlier in the month, a pre-season warm-up game, and McAvennie played just behind the front two, who on that occasion were Greg Campbell and Tony Cottee.

So who he?

According to Wikipedia, he came through our youth team, and made his debut in September 1984, before breaking his jaw in his second game. By the time he had recovered, McAvennie and Cottee had taken over the world, and he only played a total of 5 games for us before moving to Plymouth Argyle.

Rush was very good for us but went to Norwich where he got injured early on and retired.

Will never forget Matthew Rush. He scored a screamer against Ipswich in my first ever game at the Boleyn.

Loads down the years but considering they weren't too bad (especially the former) The General (Franco) and David DI Michele only just cropped into my head. I actually thought The General was a proper star (No doubt he was **** really but better than most of the dross Sulley has signed upfront).
