Other matches ~ 27th/ 28th May

Post by Puff Daddy »

It's been the usual annual slog, but it all concludes this. weekend. Finally, we will know who will be relegated along with Southampton, but I want to make a special mention of 'The Fairy tale final' tomorrow at Wembley, between Coventry City and Luton. This is a Fairy tale for both of these teams, because it really does tell a special story of two teams, for whom, all seemed lost, but it is a story whereby, when all seemed over, they always retained hope and no matter how dire the outlook, there is always life, if you retain hope. Never give up, hope. Personally, I would like both teams to be promoted, but for the loser, go again next year, because there is always hope:-

Premier League:-

Arsenal v Wolves
Aston Villa v Brighton
Brentford v Man City
Chelsea v Newcastle
Crystal Palace v Nottingham Forest
Everton v Bournemouth
Leeds V Tottenham
Leicester v West Ham United
Man United v Fulham
Southampton Liverpool

Championship Play off final

Coventry City v Luton Town

Looking forward to the play off final, not really bothered by the rest. I'd like a win obviously

If Luton win tomorrow, they will be the first ever team to rise from Non League football all the way to the Premier League. What a story. Two teams who slid all the way, from the top tier to the bottom and back again

I did. They were relegated after the 1999-2000 season which was the 8th season of the Premier League. They finished 18th, 3pts. behind Bradford City.

“Now’t,” insisted the 68 year-old. “Maybe if my name was Don Largio Samuel Allardicio or what have you, I’d be celebrating winning the Premier League right now with a creamy pint of Sauvignon Blanc instead of listening to this rubbish.”

Mark Robins is a smart bloke and has done a great job at Coventry, but I just wonder if Luton will 'power' their way to victory tomorrow. They bullied a young Sunderland side at Kenilworth Road in the semi, but Wembley is a different venue altogether. It really is an intriguing match up and I can't wait to see how it pans out.

Good luck to both clubs, both sets of fans have properly been through the mill in recent times.

I think I would prefer a Luton win, because it would reaffirm some belief that there really is some romance left in this wretched, dystopian and highly suspicious version of the sport that we all love so much.

I’m delighted both these sides are the play off finalists. The annual switch around between the likes of Norwich/Sheffield United etc is utterly boring.

I think it’s quite similar to our situation and final. Best of luck to both, but I think Luton will edge it.

Love the Knollsy story on the right hand side too. He's arguing the London Stadium should be renamed the "Knoliseum" in his honour :crylol:

A great read and a brilliant example to young players released from the bigger clubs that it’s not the end and they can forge a great career in the lower leagues and get back to the fabled promised land. He will certainly appreciate it more than most

Pelle Ruddock. He was brilliant for Luton against Sunderland. Some lovely, silky ball skills and passing. Absolutely thrilled for the lad. What a story, released by us, relegated through the leagues and could be playing in the Premier League for them next year
