Sorry Big George, but aren't you a little on the senior side to be standing in a field with 100,000 other people in the rain and mud?

Festivals are for students who are used to going a whole week without a shower and using toilets that have never been cleaned.

Never too old. Maybe too poor - which I am - but never too old (in fact tbh mrs.caress and I are giving serious consideration to going at some point, maybe next year but more likely 2025. It would be my first festival).

There's no way Big George will be the oldest person among the hundreds of thousands in attendance. He'll probably only be the third or fourth oldest. :)

I hate festivals, hands down, tbh.

But too old to enjoy a weekend of music? You jest, Shirely?

Lucky enough to have Glastonbury on my doorstep, been five times in total, loved every moment of each, but haven't attended for a good ten years.

Tempted to go next year.

Is it easier to get tickets if you're a 'local'?

I haven't personally benefited, but I know of people that have, a mate of mine has family who live in Glastonbury, and he always seems to get tickets through them.

Cheely sod, aren't you a bit old to be going on the piss in Prague?

There's no place like it for watching and enjoying music. Fresh air, great food and drink.

and some of us have mitigations against the worse shower/toilet excesses

Around about 2003, a mate and I were by the cider bus when we heard a commotion a few metres away. We went over to investigate and saw a young lady, lying naked on the grass, pleasuring herself frantically. A crowd gathered to watch, selfies were taken, she continued. Security arrived but didn't know what to do - they put a blanket over her but she pushed it aside and carried on. Eventually a security van turned up, they got her in and took her to the welfare tent.

Whenever we reminisce about bygone festivals, one of us will always say "do you remember ****ing woman?" I haven’t been in years, but I love Glastonbury, it's a unique slice of life.

Sparks [ Ron and Russell Mael ] will be in their 70s by now , Gilbert O'Sullivan is 76 .

Allow George to recapture his youth .

I'd rather stay at home and watch ' Champion The Wonder Horse ' but each to their own .

Last festival I ever attended was Knebworth , 1979 - I can still remember the stench of the ' toilets ' - Jesus .

Not for me , thanks .

I’ve never been to a festival myself but my younger brother was right into the rave scene and went to Glastonbury sometime in the 90’s purely to see The Prodigy. I remember him telling me that there was nothing on earth that could prepare you for the stench first thing in the morning of the sewage tankers emptying the khazis. That thought has stuck with me ever since :thdn:

Have climbed Glasto Tor several times but never been to the festival, tried to get tickets once or twice but didn't happen. So doubt I ever will.

One of the better festivals to watch on TV, BBC show whole sets on iPlayer rather than just one or two songs from each artist.

Their coverage is superb and you have the benefit of being able to see all the sets you want to.
Highlights for me of the recent past would be Springsteen, Foo Fighters, The Cure and Paul McCartney. Elton John has some big boots to fill after Macca’s barnstormer last year.

Is The Pyramid Stage the kinda No 1 Stage where all the ' Big ' names appear ?

If that's the case , I'd have Ben Howard ahead of Sophie Ellis Bextor , he's a proper talent while she prances around pretending to sing .

There's no justice - think I'll pop along to protest and take my chances with the poop holes .

Surprised at Manic Street Preachers being 3rd bill on the 2nd stage. That will pull a big crowd.

Some of my happiest music memories are from attending a few of these back in the 90's man, one before the fence went up :coolas: and nostalgia always has me tuning in from the comfort of my sofa over the weekend and texting mates who are also veterans about how great it would be to go one more time....then we sober up :crossed:

BBC's coverage is excellent

All looks reasonable enough at first but then, the further down the list I went, the more it just became a salad of random words. "SULTA SELECTS W/ DENIS SULTA, DAN SHAKE B2B ELKKA + AHADADREAM", anyone? :)

Anyways, I see Ed Miliband is playing a set at 2pm on Saturday. Boyakasha!

(Don't mind me, I'm just jealous I'm not going)
