Transfer Window Jan 2025

Post by DublinDave »

Hello lovelies, surely it's time..??

Christmas just around the corner & after all the fun & frolic-king the serious business of disappointment, broken dreams & angst will be upon us.

Will we get a Bowen or a Soucek..?
Or will it be a Kalvin Philips wannabe..?
Will Lop & Tim pull it out of the bag or will Sully & Salty snatch defeat from the jaws of victory..?

I'd like a striker with 2 legs, preferably under 50 & a dynamic midfield general, if I'm being greedy a LB on loan would be splendid.

Fill yer boots before it's locked..!

From today's BBC Gossip:-

West Ham are set to stand firm on Ghana attacking midfielder Mohammed Kudus' £85m release clause with Arsenal and Liverpool both monitoring the 24-year-old. (Mail - subscription required)

For £85M I'd drive him there myself.

Given we have apparently already spent a chunk of next summers budget I would not hold out hope for any serious additions in January unless we are deeper in the relegation mire, have a new manager or both. Best we might get is JWP back.

If some lunatic were to give us a serious wedge for Kudus I could see us being fairly active this window.
Without sales it could well be a very damp squib.

What is the position with the players out on loan? Are there break clauses built in? Could we recall, say, the likes of Earthy or JWP?

With Alisson Becker about to return for Liverpool and Giorgi Mamardashvili coming in next summer, a cheeky bid for Liverpool's Ireland goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher may not the the worst idea. Only 25 too.

Him being the Liverpool back up keeper will make the cost go up to 30-40 million. Sullivan paying that for a keeper while having 3 on the books? I don't see it, even when wearing my glasses.

I personally think any moves for Kudus and/or Bowen happens next summer.

a bit early even for me. so no lists yet !
as for kudus; I think he goes in the summer to replace mo salah. 85m towards replacing GK LB CB CM CF

as for this window we need two players as a minimum a striker under 30 and a midfielder. both should be young pacey and injury free.

as for sales maybe aguerd goes for 20-25m as doing well in spain and real madrid are sniffing around him.

the other first teamers on loan cornet and JWP have been poor and I doubt saints or forest want them permanently !

Striker and a midfielder, if we have to sell Kudus to fund it then c'est la vie.

Pace and power in midfield, up front I think we need someone we can play off. Calvert-Lewin’s contract is up in the summer, I wonder what price Everton would do a deal at?

Agree with basically all of this. Though I wouldn't go near Calvert-Lewin.

A strong, fast box to box midfielder. A proper striker. The big difference between us and properly run clubs is their striker, Isak or Watkins transform us.

Go get Jonathan David or if we're more desperate, Moise Kean or Retegui or dip into the Championship for Maja, Wright or Sargent. We need someone. Can't possibly rely on our current options.

He's certainly on my summer wishlist.
Can't see Liverpool letting him go before then.

On current form I am gutted we didn't sign Delap from Man City - he's looked a real good talent and exactly the type of player we like.

We 100% need a striker and a box to box midflielder.

GK
AWB Todibo Kilman LB
Soucek B2B Paqueta
Bowen ST Summerville

Would be my wishlist for now and the summer. Could we use Kudus like Tottenham use Kulusevski?

I realise I’m just repeating myself, but would any money we have not be better spent on paying out the buy-out clause for a better manager? Yes Lop needs time, yes we may well be at the start of two-year project in terms of getting us where we wanna be, but (to cut ‘n’ paste from one of my previous posts) it’s a bit ‘meh’ at the moment.

Would bringing in any new players genuingly improve us (I think we actually have a pretty good squad at present), or would they too just become part of the general malaise that surrounds right now?

Re Kudus if he leaves, Ajax will have a fairly substantial sell on clause no doubt so don't expect to see a huge amount enter the coffers even if he does go for £85m.

Kelleher's just a shot stopper, I like him, but I prefer big physically imposing goalkeepers. 6ft 6" and built like a shithouse
