Depends how much Potter wants to play a particular way. As there’s no point demanding your team to play it out from the back if your goalkeeper isn’t good with his feet.Cuenca 'ammer wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 8:56 pmI don't see losing Areola as well though, Fab is too old imvho, and we have far too many players that need replacing to include him. not the best, I'll admit with his passing for a team playing out of the back, but if we could put back replacing a keeper for another season, that would be a major plus...
It all starts from the keeper, when attempting to build up an attack. You can’t do that if your goalkeeper is constantly kicking the ball back to the opposition. The plan goes out the window immediately.
If Potter changes the tactics so we don’t have to do that, fine. Areola is a perfectly good shot stopper on his day. But if from what I’ve seen of his tactics so far, it’s not going to work if you’re going to ask your keeper to play the way we’ve seen.
Goalkeeper, the 2 central midfielders and having the right options at CF for me is what will be the difference between Potterball succeeding here or not next season.
I still want 1 reliable CH to come in also, so we don’t rely too much on Kilman.
