West Ham United vs Wolverhampton Wanderers - Mon 9th Dec : Match Thread

Post by Jonah »

I know, it's early but I need to try and forget whatever that thing was last night and never started a match thread in 22 years on this site. :shocker:

This fixture is always a bit special for me; the old man is from Wolverhampton and while he is now mostly house bound, he still likes to cheer on his beloved Wolves and stick the boot in if they beat us. I'll let him have it, he doesn't have many family derbies left.

If there was ever a must win game, it's this one (until the next one and maybe the one after) and with his head seemingly on the 'Lopping' block this is a definate must not lose game for JL against his previous employers. Will a draw against a team that has lost one more game than us before tonight suffice?

As all other formations/personel seems to be failing, may as well try this and get after them early doors. :

Code: Select all

           Fab
AWB Todibo Kilman Emerson
      Soucek Soler
Bowen Kudus Summerville
           Fullkrug

But, what do I know?
Never started a match thread in 22 years on this site.
With that formation you can see why..

Fullkrug will be lucky to last 60 mins, so it'll be Antonio; who looks increasingly ready for the glue factory after every game and I expect Paq and/or Alverez in there somewhere with Kudus on the left at the expense of Jimmy.

Have absolutely no idea about this one. I suppose the good news is West Ham managers always win their "1 game to save their job" games.

We'll see but it looks like win or bust next time out.
I'm guessing Sullivan will have his fingers crossed for a win as he hates paying off a manager's contract. Hence he held on to Moyes for too long.

He was good while he played for us, and I thought highly of him for his work at Bournemouth (and then getting sacked). Since he's been at Wolves it's been nonstop complaining. Yes, there have been some atrocious calls against them, but everyone's had those.

If Lopetegui is still in situ then I optimistically predict a 0-0 draw, just like against Everton.

Maybe somebody can show Mr Lopetegui into the away team seats on Monday……he’ll probably never even realise!

3-0 (to us, by the way).....Lop is hailed a tactical genius

With the crowd in a cheery, positive mood this can only go one way.

0-3 and yes i have seen the Wolves score tonight. It will prove how really **** we are. Lopetegui will get the blame but at the end of the day it's the players on the pitch who are kicking the ball.

Will Kilman have his old striker team mates in his back pocket, or will they be running rings around him?

Either way there will be a very loud rendition of 'You're getting sacked in the morning' for someone.

If rumours are to be believed and he has lost the dressing room, I can’t imagine the players will be busting a gut to win this one.

I suspect we will lose this and JL will be subsequently sacked.

What is frustrating as much as JL’s ineptitude is the apparent “don’t really care” attitude of some of our players. Bowen looked like he had the major hump last night, as if he was taking it personally. I’d suggest that him, Soucek, Fabianski, Alvarez, Coufal, Emerson and even Ings are the ones who care as they were hear before, some or most of them, for the good spells we had and are devastated at what has been allowed to happen.

When you’re part of a team who have just spent over £100m to improve the squad yet it’s gone backwards, you’ll undoubtedly question what’s going on.

No idea what team he will pick but I’m going for..

WHU 1 v Wolves 3

It won’t take much for our collective heads to drop and the atmosphere will be toxic.

I think it'll be a 2-2 draw but us struggling to equalise. All the opposition need to do is win the ball from us in their half and lob a ball over our high line and we're toast. We're also rubbish at defending corners now , so I bet Dawson get's his head on one.

If we are going to get anything from this game, a high line will not work ,especially with the snail pace midfielders we have. I wonder which one is the fastest between Irving, Soucek, Alvarez , Guido, Paqueta and Soler? My guess is Soler but the rest are donkeys and it's unacceptable that Steidten bought such a load of midfield tripe. I feel sorry for Lop committing himself to our owners that he would transform us into a more entertaining style, especially with what Steidten has dumped him with.

how many must win games will he get now. everton , leicester all must win and he didnt. if he is still the manager then we lose this. if not we win.

my team

areola
AWB todibo kilman emerson
soucek soler alvarez
bowen kudus summerville

subs fabianski coufal mavrospanos irving rodriguez paqueta fullkrug antonio guerherme

no lop 2-0 bowen and kudus

new manager in 3-0 add soucek to the scorers.

some tactics for this match: defence 10 yards deeper, midfield screen of soucek and alvarez. alvarez stays in front of the two CBs.
fullbACKS dont charge forward. only one at a time and run not jog back.
bowen and kudus to inter change during the match.
work on corners during the week ! defending them and attacking them.

big round of applause for craig dawson.

wolves and hammers fans to sing in unison f off lopetegui
