Some absolutely terrible penalties from both sides. Apart from that one by Lucy Bronze.

England through...but my word that was truly painful.

Unbelievable, both rubbish and great at same time.

That's one of the worst penalty shoot outs I've ever seen.

Several side footed pens that the keepers could have chucked their caps on.

The Swedes put three wide.

14 pens taken in total, and only 5 went in.

England are very, very lucky to be through here.

Like watching Julian Dicks vs Peter Schmeichel. Wallop.

Huge credit to Hannah Hampton for making that fingertip save to keep England in it.

Great character shown by the England team. But the commentators hyperbole was achingly embarrassing “ here’s where the magic starts” as Lauren James passes the ball to a Swede.
Bronze is some player.

Caught the pens after watching The Open highlights.

The best you can say is that it was an entertaining shootout, albeit badly lacking quality.

On paper, the semi final is a much easier game against a lower ranked opponent.

However, given our defensive frailties (please drive Carter to the airport) and our lack of form, it's gonna be much tougher than it should be.

The best pen was the first one Sweden scored. A top corner smash.

Our best player last night was Chloe Kelly. Not sure why she didn’t start.

The pens were like a Benny Hill sketch, it was almost as if, neither team wanted to win.
The goalie taking one and taking out a passing pigeon, was my fav.

I wonder if Mary Earps is just saying '...yeah, fair play' this morning.

Absolutely terrific work from England to get back into it. Hampton smashed it, really impressed with her as a keeper in this tournament - had been before, but she seems to have a bit of something extra right now.

For as much as I'm not her biggest fan, Bronze was very good last night. On the flipside of that, some of the defensive play was very shambolic - it's long been a weak point for England, and has been exposed in almost every game to differing impacts. Sat at home wondering what Le Tissier has to do to get some game time, to be honest.

Lucky - but that's what tournament football relies on. Sweden had looked like a potential finalist, or even winner, in their group games, so not surprised it was as tough as it was, but we made it a lot harder than it needed to be.

Turned it on a bit before half time and we were getting battered. The girl who was playing right back was getting rinsed every time. Astonishing that she didn't get hooked before she did.
The substitutions absolutely changed the game and I didn't think we'd lose from that point.
Didn't see the penalties, seems like i missed a comedy classic.

Watched the highlights
Pleased they won
But dreadful penalties some of them
No need for a replay some penalties were already in slow motion
