Anything by Queen. The most bloated, excruciating "group" ever.

Where to start?

"We Will Rock You". A drum beat and shouting.

"We Are The Champions". A complete and utter dirge.

"Fat Bottomed Girls". A sexist piece of ****. But loved by many 'cos it's our Freddie being sarcastic, innit?

"Bicycle Race". What a crock of ****:

"Bicycle races are coming your way
So forget all your duties oh yeah!
Fat-bottomed girls they'll be riding today
So look out for those beauties oh yeah

On your marks get set go

Bicycle race bicycle race bicycle race
Bicycle bicycle bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle bicycle bicycle bicycle
(I want a) Bicycle race" Jesus wept.

"Seven Seas of Rhye". Mother of God. A pompous, fatuous meaningless exercise in playing as fast as possible with no attempt at music.

And as for "Bohemian Rhapsody" (or "Bo Rap" as the clowns re-christened it .... **** my old boots.

last.caress wrote: Thu Sep 04, 2025 2:09 pm We need to take "Anything by Coldplay" as a given, of course.

Beyond that:

Bill Withers - Ain't No Sunshine
Bill Withers - Lovely Day
Johnny Nash - I Can See Clearly Now
Nina Simone - Feeling Good
Heatwave - Mind Blowing Decisions
The Isley Brothers - Summer Breeze
The 5th Dimension - Let the Sunshine In
Bobby Hebb - Sunny
Jackie DeShannon - What the World Needs Now is Love

All ****ing dreadful. I seem to have an unconscious issue with "sunny" songs.
Not having that.
All bloody classics!

Perhaps you’re more of a Winter person? :crylol:

Anything by the Pet Shop Boys or Kate Bush gets muted by me if it comes on the radio.

My Room 101 would be being stuck somewhere with them on constant repeat!!!!

This is up there for me. The end of this song where it just goes on and on and on and on drives me mad.

As is Innuendo, for me their greatest song, and I'm not influenced by Steve Howes 'flamenco' part in the middle....honest.

Queen in general a good old 'get em going' live band who I saw in '75/76 summat like that.
I don't hate B Rap but christ its been overexposed

Now, let me start by saying I really rate Knopfler and Dire Straits without being an outright fan of their stuff, but Money For Nothing sounds like he was just told to write a pop hit. To make matters worse, I used to install microwave ovens as a job when the song was released. Rumbelows, remember them? :smiler:

Edit: oh, and the band I am in cover it as well, just to rub salt into the wound

The Smiths. All of them.

**** music for students.

Someone in some self indulgent music paper, melody maker or such like, decided they were cool and then there was a mass cult like brainwash and they became popular.

They're garbage and not in an anglo American rock group way.

Plus 'Sting is on it, or as Frank Zappa once introduced him, Mr Sting :crossed:
That's one for a 'songs you don't like by bands you do like' category. which I'm sure we've had before

Rumbelows... I'm sure we rented a tele off them( imagine that) many moons ago

Stevie Wonder is responsible for some great tracks without a doubt but he’s also behind two vomit-inducing pieces of garbage that make my ears bleed with their god awful lyrics and beige music.

Ebony and Ivory and I Just Called To Say I Love You, absolute shyte and both No.1’s IIRC

Now, I’m normally a very calm, easy-going person….but whenever I hear this on the radio, I just want to commit murder! And God help you if you happen to be in the same room as me when the video comes on the TV !!!!

I could list hundreds more, but most my brain will just tune out, but The New Radicals.... :swear: I hope theres a special place in hell for them
I despise this song too. It’s just terrible.
Marilyn Manson took up the lead singer’s offer for a scrap, btw. I don’t think he got a reply. I’d be cheering on Marilyn, happily.

Yeah, but I'm going for songs I hate but which are by significant consensus considered decent numbers. It's a piece of piss to say to these threads, "Um, Shaddap You Face, The St. Winifred's School Choir, all of Ladbaby's Xmas no.1s, and all of Cliff's Christian output." Those novelty songs or songs aimed at pre-teens or octogenarians are easy meat. Let's see songs that we can't stand that might be more perplexing. I can't stand any of those songs. Like, really despise them. And they're so thematically similar that folk could be forgiven for thinking that I've done it deliberately; like, maybe I genuinely hated, say, two of them, saw the "sunshine" connection and just decided to dislike every other song remotely in that wheelhouse. But, no. I hate them all and only saw it for myself when I decided to keep a list of just these sorts of songs: Songs I hate which are generally perceived to be decent songs.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Bear in mind as well mate that, as you're well aware by now, my musical taste is superior to just about everybody else's. There's that.

Schooldays we did a musical Joseph & the Technicolour etc and it went rather well, and then this ignorant, talentless git (student) wanted to do Rocky Horror and endlessly imitated Time Warp. Course the school wouldn't allow it and thank **** cos this bloke put me off the song forever.

Good to see a number of my most hated have already appeared on these pages, glad I'm not alone.

I'd add Shakira. People at work always laugh as I have to either switch the music off or at least leave the room when she comes on.

But she's fit you'll say? Look, I could go out on a date with her, nice meal, she invites me back to hers, we have a drink, she suggests playing some music.....

On go the ****ing pan pipes

Sorry love, just remembered, I need to wash my hair, or cut my toenails or floss my bum crack.

Pan pipes are the single most worst sound on this planet. ****ing awful.

Apologies to any South Americans reading this thread.
