⚽ West Ham Utd v Crystal Palace: match thread
Palace are a good team , but have perhaps had some of their stardust stolen,
They have a London derby against Millwall in the week before coming to us.
I think we can reasonably expect to play a back 3 in this one, matching up with them.

Re: West Ham United v Crystal Palace: match thread
Who cares honestly. The protest before the game is the more important event of the day.
Re: West Ham United v Crystal Palace: match thread
We have to play another game next week???
Seriously though we might have half a chance, Sarr and Wharton injured and no Eze any more. Just need to score first after the inevitable 0-0 at half time.
I’d play this:
Fabianski
KWP Mav Kilman Diouf
Fernandes Magassa
Bowen Paqueta Summerville
Fullkrug

Back at the bowl of doom where we inevitably play terribly and lose. Roll on Everton away

Re: West Ham United v Crystal Palace: match thread
We're going to get battered If we keep such a slow CM with no press or intensity to close down.
Do not play a high back line, they are best when running behind you.
-------------Hermansen--------------
KWP----Mavro------Kilman----Diouf
--------Fernandes--Magassa---------
Bowen-------Paqueta------Summer
----------------Wilson-----------------
I'd start Igor because our CBs are going to get eaten alive by Mateta. At least Igor is a strong b*stard.

Re: West Ham United v Crystal Palace: match thread
Personally, I'm looking forward to the three points.
Reminds me a bit of the home game against Brentford a couple of years ago where the mood music was the manager's getting sacked and we always lose to them.....we turned up and we were ****ing mustard.
And then we're beating Everton the week after - add 'em to our 'first team to win at their new stadium' collection.

We haven’t taken 3 points in this fixture at the bowl since 2018.

Re: West Ham United v Crystal Palace: match thread
Not having Soucek for this is a big blow. We’re so bad at defending set pieces he pretty much has to be in the team every week.
Palace will be licking their lips when attacking corners and freekicks.

Can’t we have another international break instead?

If we're zonal marking the first corner we defend I'll stop watching.

Re: West Ham United v Crystal Palace: match thread
Agreed. Never liked zonal. Seems difficult to use successfully. Not surprising when it leads to height mismatches like KWP vs Romero and leaving Sarr completely unmarked at the back post.Bubbles Fortuna wrote: ↑Sun Sep 14, 2025 7:12 am If we're zonal marking the first corner we defend I'll stop watching.
Do we have a defensive coach? I’m guessing not…
