Re: Boxing thread
Firstly thanks for the links
Height, reach and class made it only ever look like being one winner. Great body shots and a super uppercut. Whyte was just lucky the uppercut didn't land flush but it was still groggy when he got up. The ref made the right decision.
Now we can expect Fury to retire then come out of retirement for a fight with AJ.

I’m going to have to watch Holyfield v Tyson again.
I don’t mind TF but he’s not all that, best of a bad bunch IMHO.
Boring fighter, dull style, not my type of fighter at all.
if i would have paid £24 for that i would have been well pissed off - let alone paid £££'s to watch it at wembly..
I'd rather watch some up and coming heavyweights, than TF's dross.
Thanks for the links btw chaps. Top forruming!

Whyte shouldn't of been allowed in the ring with Tyson!
The GK is in a different league to Whyte the gulf in class was wider than the Pacific Ocean

Re: Boxing thread
Well, I can agree he was too good for Whyte, looked like a mismatch from round 1. Fury’s reach was too much and the fella didn’t have a clue how to get past it.
Clever boxing admittedly but too one sided to be entertaining, to me anyhow lol

Re: Boxing thread
I think Joyce vs Fury would be good - at least he’s nearly big enough to deal with the height. Just a bit Drago.

Re: Boxing thread
Wife wasn't keen on mespending £25. She loved the walk out and razzmatazz. Reminded me of old rocky films.
Fight wasn't great but great knock out finish. As usual with watching West Ham. It's not just the game. It's the before and after.
Great stuff In my opinion.

Re: Boxing thread
Lovely shot from Fury to finish it.
Will he retire? I doubt it. Although other than the winner of Usyk Joshua there's no one currently out there for him to get too excited about, so maybe he will.

Re: Boxing thread
I think Fury has been a magnificent champion. Struggled with mental health issues but overcome them.
He has shown the travelling community can and will be part of society. 94,000 boxing fans show attitudes have changed.
Also what a role model for people suffering with mental health issues if he has accepted he needed help.
I thought Whyte would do better. Love to see another couple of fights from Fury before he retires.

Re: Boxing thread
Just as an aside, Fury was the only person who ever outpointed Wladimir Klitschko in 69 fights stretched over 21 years

Re: Boxing thread
Katie Taylor against Amanda Serrano in a massive fight at Madison Square Garden this weekend.
First time women have headlined at The Mecca.
Should be a good atmosphere as it's an Irish woman (every white American is Irish remember  ) against a New York Puerto Rican.
Taylor more of a boxer while Serrano can do it all including a decent dig.
Meanwhile in Vegas there's a unification bout between two undefeated Super Featherweights.
Mexican Oscar Valdez is 30(23)-0 while Shakur Stevenson of Newark is 17(9)-0.
Valdez trains with Canelo here in San Diego and is a good boxer with a knockout punch whereas Stevenson is a very special talent who doesn't like to engage too much. Saying that he's coming off a career best performance in stopping Jamel Herring.

A Serrano and Stevenson double for me. These are 2 hard to call fights thoughts where any outcome is genuinely possible.Shabu wrote: ↑Wed Apr 27, 2022 5:50 pm Katie Taylor against Amanda Serrano in a massive fight at Madison Square Garden this weekend.
