Re: Boxing thread
Plant did ok and the commentators (rubbish) talked up Plant’s performance as it went on but it was a pretty routine/standard Canelo win for me. You’re not gonna beat Canelo in Vegas by any method by going backwards round the ring and not throwing a right hand.

Re: Boxing thread
25 years ago today Evander Holyfield knocked out Mike Tyson in a massive upset to win the heavyweight title for the 3rd time.
Anyone remember watching it?
I was dating this gorgeous mixed race girl. We'd gone out for dinner then back to some friends of hers place to watch the fight. Everyone fell asleep before it started so I did all their coke, drank loads of beers in the fridge, watched an amazing fight then woke the bird up, went back to her place and spent the next two days in bed.
Shortly after that I left England

Kell Brook and Amir Khan might finally be happening in early 2022, about 8 years too late.

Chris Eubank Jr v Liam Williams on December 11th.
Cracking domestic match up. I reckon Eubank wins as he seems to have an iron chin and plenty of speed.

Re: Boxing thread
A final payday for both of them, I reckon. Hell, I thought both had retired from the game already.

My favorite ‘heavyweight’ (intentional quote marks) of all time.

Re: Boxing thread
There are plenty of other reasons why he can't be the GOAT
For one, he did not beat one great fighter in his career despite fighting a few of them . Larry Holmes was old and washed up
Conversely, was beaten by every great fighter he fought and some not so great ones
Also, showed himself up as a coward time and again once he realised that he couldn't intimidate every fighter that stood in front of him.
Not even in the Top 10 heavyweights of all time. Not for me anyway
A record padded with tomato cans that he bulldozed in his early career.

Nice video, a bit like our behind the scenes ones, about fight day between Canelo & Plant. Decent highlights too

Re: Boxing thread
The WBC have approved Canelo challenging for the Cruiserweight title against Ilunga Junior Makabu, whose record is 28(25)-2(2) with one of those losses being after 29 seconds of his debut in 2008 & the other was to Tony Bellew although he had the Scouser down in the first.
I'm guessing the fight will be on May 7th

Canelo moving up to cruiserweight! There’s a surprise but who would bet against him?

Re: Boxing thread
The big question is what weight will the fight be at?York Ham(mer) wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 1:50 pm Canelo moving up to cruiserweight! There’s a surprise but who would bet against him?
Now the WBC have brought in Bridgerweight they've lowered the Cruiserweight limit to 190 pounds which is a bit harsh telling a bloke who won the title at 200 pounds that he's got to drop 10 pounds.
